When we moved to Boulder, one of our first priorities was finding the right place to care for our beloved 15-year-old Shepsky boy. From our very first visit to Gunbarrel Veterinary Hospital, we knew we had found more than a vet. We found a family. Dr. Shaver built a thoughtful care plan and took the time to truly know him, not just his chart. Every visit felt personal. Every question was answered with patience. We never felt rushed or like “just another appointment.” When our boy took a sudden turn for the worse, the compassion from the team was extraordinary. Dr. Shaver met us with a depth of empathy you simply can’t manufacture. She stood with us, held our hand through one of the hardest moments of our lives. She cared for him with the same tenderness we did. That matters more than words can express. The team followed up with handwritten cards and continued support that went far beyond expectation. They didn’t just treat our "pet" — they cared for our family. Losing him was excruciating, but we are deeply grateful he was surrounded by people who treated him (and us) with extraordinary compassion. They eased his pain, and afterward, they helped carry ours. I can’t say enough good things about Gunbarrel Animal Hospital. Initially, I chose this vet based on where I lived as it was only about 5 minutes away. The quality of care there was so good I’ve continued to use their services despite moving farther away and being closer to many other vet offices. We have been clients for about 8 years with a few different pets and have received excellent routine care as well as emergencies (ACL tear and surgery), cancer and end of life care, and the occasional unexpected issue. We typically see Dr. Feller who is absolutely fabulous and has earned my full trust when it comes to my animals. She always explains things in full details and lays out options for care so an informed decision can be made. I’ve also seen other doctors when care has been needed ASAP and always received excellent care. Additionally, the vet techs and front desk staff are always friendly, thorough, and knowledgeable. We love Gunbarrel Animal Hospital and feel so lucky and secure to rely on them for animal care.

I was able to get a new patient appointment fairly quickly for my dog - he had a hotspot. The staff was great, as was the doctor. I really appreciated her minimalist approach. I'd had the same issue with hotspot in Illinois and the doctor threw the kitchen sink at it. This approach felt much measured. Everyone was kind and attentive and they even told me that my dog was upset when they shaved him in the backroom. I really appreciate that because you have no idea what's happening back there!

We have taken all 3 of our dogs over the past 17 years to GBVH and every Veterinarian there has treated our babies with much love and top notch care. Thank you to all the staff as well for handling our emergencies in times of despair! Dr. Michelle Feller has embraced each and every concern about our fur babies medical triumphs with the upmost professional & supportive follow up communication after every appointment! They all exemplify such unconditional warmth & understanding of our fears during their most challenging medical moments!

Friendly, caring, knowledgeable, and a well kept facility, the entire staff was willing to go the extra mile to look up information we wanted as well as send us links to websites needed for traveling abroad. With a 1 1/2 lb yorkie we had a bunch of questions. They took the time to listen to our concerns and explain appropriate solutions.
