As the central hub of the county—specifically the park situated right at the entrance of the government offices—it is appalling that despite the substantial taxes taxpayers contribute annually, the public facilities and services provided for children are so abysmal. Some of the equipment consists of dilapidated, second-hand cast-offs; children and parents playing there are left exposed to the scorching sun, with virtually no shaded areas and very few places to sit. Where is taxpayers' money going? — Office buildings stand lavish and imposing, yet municipal infrastructure projects remain indefinitely stalled; filth and disorder are ubiquitous, and even the newly installed children's playground equipment is already in a state of severe disrepair—equipment that turns out to be second-hand, damaged, and even infested with mold.

June 2022 UPDATE: I brought my review up a star as it looks like the city has been keeping the grounds nicer . Still plenty of weeds, sand burrs, and ant piles, but it looks like they’ve kept up better with the shrubs & grass. We’ve been to the splash pad twice, in the morning, this summer so far. Both mornings the restrooms have been open. All the sprays have been working. The splash pad area has been clean with no litter. Shower also appears to be in working order. Park area has good police presence. I feel safer here with my children than other parks in the county . June 2022 This would be the *perfect * park for little ones! So close to downtown, a fence around the playground area & a splash pad?! All great points! However the grounds are so poorly kept. Grass is always overgrown, in desperate need of mowing and weed eating. The bushes need trimmed back as they are growing through the fence. There entire grounds look like they haven’t been kept up in MONTHS. Litter was on the ground at every turn. I did my part and picked up what I saw, but come on! No one should leave trash behind ! Pick up after yourself & your children. What looks like it was once a flower bed is full of weeds. At the very least it could be filled up and turned into a seating area. But leaving it as is just adds to the overgrown, don’t care look. It’s a bad mark on *what could be * our cute little town. Also the restroom is never open. Another point that is needful for Littles! I had to race home with my kiddos so they could go to the restroom cutting our time at the park short. Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Fort Ogden…all of these parks always have their restrooms open and in working order! I don’t understand why Arcadia looks like the dumps? Especially so close to the cute, historic downtown. My hopes are the city takes note and improves this park area.

Truly disgusted. This park is rarely open on the weekends when it’s needed. It’s open throughout the week when us working individuals are at work. Something is always wrong and there is always an excuse on why it’s not running. Maybe the city should hire someone just for the splash pad and up keep. Big mistake ! NOSAIC!
