Lucky Star Dog Training

There’s not enough words to describe how amazing my experience with Lucky Star Dog Training has been. Jen and Aaron worked with my boy Alfred in their board and train, and the results have exceeded beyond my expectations. Not just with obedience but Alfred confidence has improved tremendously. The support and communication that Jen and Aaron have provided and continue to provide has been superb. Alfred and I quality of life has skyrocketed since training. I can’t recommend Lucky Star Dog Training enough!

This is the second dog I’ve taken to Lucky Star, and even though I knew it would be nothing less than amazing again, I was still absolutely BLOWN away! Quinton came back a completely different dog in the best way. Prior to training, he was… well, a corgi. Stubborn and very committed to doing things his way. Now, he listens, he’s present, and he’s truly engaged with us. I can see how much happier and more confident he is, and how calm he feels moving through the world. It’s only been a week, and our bond already feels so much deeper. He is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and cuddly with us. We always knew he had so much love in him, but before training his focus was so scattered that it was hard for him to really show it. Now, that love actually gets to come through. Aaron gave us an amazing follow-up lesson after training, and Jen has consistently checked in and helped make the transition back home feel smooth and supported. They are both incredible trainers and genuinely wonderful people. It has been worth every single bit and more. We get to give Quinton the best life now and our lives feel so much richer because of it. Cheers to many adventures ahead with our well-trained, amazing pup! We could not be more grateful!!!

In 2018, we worked with Jen & Aaron with our first German Shepherd, Luna. We adopted her at 6yo, she was a great dog, but reactive to other dogs. With 1-on-1 training classes, Jen helped us get Luna to tolerate other dogs without reacting. After Luna passed we decided to get another GSD, but, in a moment of insanity :-) decided to get a puppy. We found Cinder from a breeder in OK, and brought her home in Aug. '25. Cinder is a sweet, smart little fur-missile with tons of energy and a stubborn streak. As soon as we got her, I contacted Jen for some advice and she was very helpful. She suggested we consider the 3 week B&T class when Cinder turned 6 months old. We signed up for the Dec 2025 class, Cinder was 5.5 months old when we dropped her off. That was great advice and a great decision. My wife, Michelle, was very skeptical, as she thought Cinder was untrainable. However, after 3 weeks with Aaron & Jen, Cinder came back a new dog. No, she's not perfect, she's still young and has a lot to learn. However, she is great on walks and is now controllable. Michelle now feels she has some tools to use to help her control Cinder as we know she will be a big dog, and learning manners early is so critical. A few days after coming home, I was walking Cinder through a nearby neighborhood, and a Dad and son stopped to talk to me. He complimented me on Cinder and said, "She walks really well for a puppy." I told him she just got home from 3 weeks of training. He said, "I can tell, I've been a Police K9 Handler for several years." We chatted for a bit, he asked me different questions about what I learned, etc. In parting, he said, "Kudos to your Trainer, they knew what they were doing." We highly recommend the B&T classes with Jen & Aaron, especially for a young, working breed dog, where early obedience training is critical. If you want to be able to take your dog anywhere, on or off-leash, you've come to the right place! I've had two of my dogs trained by Jen & Aaron, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. If you're considering getting your dog trained here, just do it. My life and the lives of my dogs are significantly better because of the training they received at Lucky Star. It's so much more fun taking them on adventures knowing their off-leash recall is dialed, they aren't pulling on the leash, and they obey my commands. I will always get my dogs trained here and board them with Jen & Aaron when I'm out of town!

Jen and Aaron are an absolute godsend. We found ourselves, unexpectedly, the proud parents of a 8 week old Husky rescued from the side of the road. A couple months later we found out we were expecting a new two legged member of our family and it was clear that we needed to call in the big guns to help manage our very smart, very head strong puppy before the baby came. We’d both had well trained dogs before but this little Husky was in a class all his own. We chose Jen and Aaron based on other reviews, and they delivered beyond our expectations. The transformation they were able to achieve was nothing short of a miracle. We dropped off a 7 month old puppy that pulled on the leash no matter how hard we tried to correct it, listened only when he decided he wanted to, and who couldn’t be coaxed to focus even with the highest value treats we could find. What we got back was an 8-month old dog that doesn’t need a leash on walks and does what he’s asked to when we ask him (even if he’s a little sassy about it). They even took the time to get him accustomed to walking next to a stroller. Their system for implementing the e-collar is incredibly effective. When we went to pick him up, they took as much time as we needed to train us in how to handle him and redirect his attention when there are distractions. They’re not just great dog trainers, they’re wonderful people who take the time and energy to truly connect with your dog and understand their needs. We’ll be recommending Lucky Star to all our family and friends, and would recommend them for even the most “impossible” cases.
