Very small beach on each side of the old Wanakah Water building. When tide is high not much space. Search among the small pebbles for horn coral and fossil shells. Tunnel under the road with parking on other side or park in front of building and take stairs down the side.

--- UPDATED REVIEW 12/12/2023 --- The lake hasn't frozen over in several years, which means they unless there's a significant amount of snow/adverse weather, it's almost possible to walk along the water's edge 52 weeks a year, collecting driftwood and beach glass (and ogling the impressive views of the downtown skyline, which are particularly breathtaking at sunset and afterwards)! --- ORIGINAL REVIEW --- One of my favorite local spots! There are other nearby beaches that are much larger and (for some reason) have much better rocks, if that's your thing, but Wanakah is quiet, private, and sort of secreted away. Without amenities like playground equipment, restrooms, lifeguards, or hiking/dog-walking trails, most people pass it by in favor of Wendt or Woodlawn, which means you're likely to find you have it all to yourself when you visit. It's great any time of day, but it is a PARTICULARLY gorgeous place to catch a sunset.
