(from Google)In summer, it s best to start the walk early in the morning. In fall, preferably in the afternoon. Wide trails, both bikers and rail walkers use same space. Alpine trail is moderately difficult, can be done by kids.
Tried to take my dog here, was confused where the trails for hiking and walking were. Driving wise it's just a big circle with open fields in the middle for the most part, lots of holes in the dirt road to give your shocks a good shake even with an SUV. You can park on the side of the road, but no real direction on where to park and no signs on where any trails would be. Only trail I found was pretty much a dead end and had to turn around. They were also doing maintenance when I was there so it didn't make it any better. If you're there to go to the picnic area or the baseball field it's fine, but I wasn't really into it otherwise
I love taking my dog for little hikes here all year long. It's my easy escape from the world that is literally in my back yard. We always find some neat things on our walks. And she is a husky so she can just pull me thru some areas if I need it haha. I'll tell ya what I will definitely miss having South Mountain right in the back of me. Being in my neighborhood in the back, I didnt feel I was in Allentown (until loud cars and systems drove by lol) Nature is just one of the most priceless gifts we are given, I hope people will look out and keep it clean & safe.
it's a beautiful place to watch Wild life and take pictures of nature..
Lots of potential. Natural, winding, unmarked, meandering, narrow trails on north side of the rough gravel driveway with no markers. Lots of potential. Litter along sides of mostly stone driveways..
