The Barkington

Layla loves The Barkington. She gets so excited when we are close to turning into the parking lot. She gets the excited pee when we walk in the door and loves up on the day camp counselors whenever we walk in. They have been so great to work with and highly recommend them!

First time boarding my dog and I could not be happier I was a nervous wreck dropping Pria off over the holidays but The staff made me feel so comfortable and communication was above and beyond I received report cards and updates daily. I loved watching her in her private sweet on the cameras the staff even asked what tv show she preferred to be playing In her room. A big reason I chose this facility was because of the cameras in the room and the 24 hour staff that was not something I have seen at other facilities. I will recommend The Barkington to everyone I know ! Special shoutout to Tina and Sarah you two know your stuff !!!

I was visiting family in Wilmington and brought my dog with me. I didn't know beforehand that we were going somewhere special for 3 days. I boarded my pup at The Barkington. I made all the arrangements through the manager, Sarah. Sarah was very friendly and efficient. She answered all my questions without hesitation. Although my pup was glad to see me, he seemed sad to be leaving The Barkington! I highly recommend this business if you ever need to board your dog. Always ask for Sarah. She is the best!

i’ve been taking my dog Pepper to The Barkington since he was a puppy. the last time he was there we had him boarded for about 6 days (this was back in June). when we picked him up, he had this bright red looking scab on his nose. it wasn’t bleeding but you could definitely tell it was at one point. he wouldn’t even let me near it, let alone touch it to put ointment on it. i had him booked doing all day play every day he was there, so he should’ve been under some sort of supervision, and you would think someone would’ve noticed or alerted us. we called The Barkington to ask if something happened, and they said they would look at the cameras and talk to some of the other employees and call right back. they never called. i had a bad feeling about how he had gotten it, and after hearing about the passing of a dog under their care, i’m definitely not bringing him back. he used to love going there, the staff always recognized him, and we trusted how he was being treated, but this was unacceptable for me.

My Dog Apache has been going to The Barkington for a lot of years. It was his favorite place to go other than being at home. 6 months ago Apache was diagnosed with Lymphoma and went through 20 weeks of chemo therapy. During the therapy he would come to me and look at me as to say I want to go to the Barkington to see my friends. He loved all the people at the Barkington and all the other dogs that I know he considered his friends. Apache went into remission during the chemo therapy and was back to his old self running playing and of course barking. Unfortunately his cancer came back and today he lost his battle with cancer. Even though he lost his battle to cancer I know he had the best 6 months of his life at home and with all his friends at the Barkington. I will miss taking him there and seeing him so happy to play and tired when I would pick him up. I appreciate the kindness and love the Barkington always gave my big puppy and I am sure he did too. Thanks again
