(from Google)Awesome meditating at the top of Mt. Sanitas. Gorgeous trail.
Well-maintained trail and not very steep, almost 90% shaded, perfect for runners or hikers, while when running, you must be cautious to acutely figure out the stones or tree roots in this spotted trail--see first picture.
A hike to remember. Definitely had me breathing hard. The views of course were beyond breathtaking. The trail was very easy to walk, especially if you’re bringing children. I saw a few children on the path. You really do hear Peaceful sounds while walking the path. Oh and if you want to get a scenic view of Boulder, CO then this trail is definitely for You!
Beautiful trail, epic views, definitely recommend. I didn't spy any fountains or restrooms along the way. But it's a huge area with tons of paths so there could be facilities I missed. We approached the mountain from the valley to the East of the peak. At some points on the way up the trail was quite easy to lose (someone actually asked us to point them back to the trail at one point), so go carefully! Descending down the Western face of the mountain however, the trail was well defined the whole way down. It was quite a popular trail for people and dogs alike, at least when walked on a sunny Saturday afternoon! But I wouldn't say it felt crowded at all, just popular. In terms of difficulty I'd say the trail up the Eastern face of the mountain (facing the valley and neighbouring mountain) was moderately difficult and not for everyone. It took our somewhat experienced part of three a little over an hour on the way up, including two rest stops. It was along this side which a stranger asked for confirmation which way the trail went. Coming down (descending along the Western face, which overlooks the road) was definitely easier, but still quite steep, with large steps most of the way. It took us about 30/45 minutes to descend.
Some of the best hiking in Boulder. Hours of beautiful remote trails just a few miles from downtown Boulder. Well maintained trails with deer, squirrels, owls, hawks and yes, mountain lions (on a rare early morning). Parking is very limited. Public restrooms in the parking lot.
