(from Google)I had a very disappointing experience at Banfield Pet Hospital in Fremont. The veterinary assistant, the one with multiple face piercings, as we unfortunately did not get her name, was extremely unprofessional and very sales-focused rather than patient-focused. She kept coming back into the room to ask the same questions we had already answered several times and repeatedly pushed additional services even after we clearly and politely declined. We understand that a concern was found, and I explained that this issue has already been treated multiple times based on a previous veterinarian’s diagnosis, but the symptoms remain the same. The doctor was actually clear and appropriate in saying that the next step would be a dermatology referral if needed. However, the assistant continued trying to upsell numerous services that would have increased our bill from about $190 to nearly $750. When we finally declined the services, her demeanor noticeably changed. She sighed in front of us, made visible facial expressions of frustration and disappointment, and gave us attitude, which made the entire interaction very uncomfortable and felt disrespectful. It came across as if we were being judged for not agreeing to the add-ons. We were there for almost two hours, and a large portion of that time was spent repeating the same conversations. Banfield should ensure that staff respect clients’ decisions and focus on quality care rather than aggressive upselling. This was not a professional or client-centered experience.
I just had to most frustrating experience at Banfield. I made an appointment at 9:30 AM and my cat was only seen at 1PM. The vet also gave my cat a vaccine injection on the leg that was injured, and the injury that was the main reason for coming in the first place. I had to repeatedly ask for updates, only to be given rolling estimates of “30 minutes to an hour,” none of which were accurate. This lack of transparency was extremely frustrating and disrespectful of my time. This went on for FOUR HOURS. They told me that the doctor was delayed due to a surgery complication which I can understand. However, at 11AM, I was told that the doctor was out of surgery and was conducting physical exams. By 12 PM, I received no communication and had to ask AGAIN about my cat. I was told the Dr. will be coming to update me shortly, another HOUR pass, and a vet tech came out to speak to me to inform me that they JUST completed the exam and shot. This means that when the first guy told me "they'll be coming to update you shortly" at 12PM, they hadn't even started seeing my cat. I went into the visit with concerns over my cat's left hind leg sensitivity. After explaining to me the procedures they did to check his injured leg, the vet tech informed me that they gave him the vaccine shot on THAT VERY SAME INJURED LEG. I'm completed BAFFLED by this decision. Even if the physical exam did not show any symptoms of leg pain (which I believe my cat did not react out of fear), I the owner, expressly stated that I noticed unusual behavior of sensitivity on that leg. WHY ON EARTH would they still inject him on that leg?
Banfield staff and Dr Lou are very kind sweet knowledgeable in their field and compassionately under standing . I brought my rescue kitty in for her initial shots and wellness check they were very thorough. I now have decided to have them on our team for health care concerns at least for kitty’s first year as I am not versed in kitten hood 2025 . Which seems to be more complicated than when I grew up with a backyard cat .
This place is not the best if you have a bigger dog. And they are just not consistent. We brought our American Bully for a check up. We gave her trazodone to calm her down and she did great. But the staff just kept acting like she was difficult. She went right with them and they were able to draw blood. And they just had her and my BF waiting in the room for 2 hours. The vet came in, barely checked her, was not very engaged. I’m not sure if the staff doesn’t like bigger dogs or if they aren’t used to them but we expect at least a certain amount of compassion, especially if we just want our pup to be checked and to make sure she’s healthy. The last visit was similar. This vet is close to our apartment so it’s convenient for her shots and meds. But they just aren’t all on the same page. And the gentleman up front who answers the phone is not helpful at all when scheduling. We used to enjoy bringing her here but lately, it’s been really disappointing and upsetting.
So I know finding a good vet Dr / hospital who truly cares about our fur babies is a struggle but Banfield fremont has been amazing . They have been so good to my puppy , I have been bringing my puppy since 8 weeks old and they always go above and beyond. We just had him neutered and they have called more than a couple time to make sure he is healing well. Love their attention and love toward my sparrow .
