(from Google)Know before you go and set expectations accordingly… McIntosh Preserve is exactly what it calls itself—a preserve, not a traditional park. It’s geared more toward quiet nature use than amenities or recreation. The property offers a few basics: picnic tables, beginner-friendly orienteering trails, and crushed shell paths that are easy to walk and handicap accessible. That said, facilities are minimal. There are porta-potties on site, though their condition may vary, and there are no permanent restrooms or camping options available. It’s open sunrise to sunset and was lightly attended during my visit. It has potential, especially considering it appears to be recently opened, so there may be additional improvements planned over time. If you’re simply looking for a quiet place to walk the dog or step away and enjoy nature, this fits the bill. However, it’s worth noting that the setting feels fairly isolated. As a single woman, I don’t think I would be comfortable walking the trails alone. Overall, it’s a decent spot for a short, easy nature walk if you go prepared and keep expectations modest, but not a destination for extended stays or full-day outings.
This park is more of a place to stop for a picnic or short walk with kids. There's a playground by the observation tower. Picnic tables at the trailhead as well as benches along the trail. Calling it a trail is a stretch. It's a few miles total, taking all the trails available. The trails themselves are more gravel roads. It does have some nice oak trees along the path but you can always hear all the traffic on the road.
Not what I was expecting. If you're looking for a place to walk, then you're good. Trails are actually gravel roads. Some interesting oak trees, lots of Spanish moss, but nothing much else. No animals, no birds, no nothing. Ad for the tower said "see the 'gators". I climbed the tower, with a bum leg, and when I got to the top all I saw was scrub grass...no gators, no water, no nothing
Beautiful flowers and sceneries galore. We went during a more cloudy day it it felt wonderful lots of mixture of shade and sun too. If you dont like mosquitoes there are some depending on the day but definitely going to explore more
The paths are very wide and marked very well. If you like wide open trails you'll love it. But if you're looking for more dense wooded areas this isn't for you. No public restrooms just 2 port a John's in the parking lot. But they were very clean. Loved the tower . We could see a long ways off and hear all the frogs 🐸 .
