(from Google)We have loved Rankin Lake for years. My husband and I got engaged here in 2017. Now my grandkids love playing here and we love walking and relaxing here as well as just looking at the beautiful lake. The kids Looooove the ZipLine!
Gorgeous lake with wonderful winter birding! We visited for the first time this weekend after seeing how many types of birds were listed on ebird. It did not disappoint. It was only 34 degrees but we didn't mind so much. There is a lovely paved path around the lake with multiple viewing docks. Most of those docks had Great Blue Herons resting on them. There was a swampy area off to the side where we saw many wood ducks and mallards. As other reviews mentioned there is a gun range close by and it did take a little time to get used to hearing shots. We will be visiting again for sure.
There's a one 1.7 mile paved walking track around the lake. People go fishing there in designated spots. You can rent kayaks, canoes, and little motorized boats. They have a ramp area if you want to bring your own boat. However you have to check with them to make sure the boat is appropriate for the lake. You're not goning to see any water ski boats on this lake. And depending on what time of the year you're there, there's abundant wildlife, mostly birds.
Rankin Lake Park surprised me in the best way. It’s such a peaceful spot to just breathe for a while beautiful lake views, well-kept walking paths, and plenty of space to unwind. I loved how calm the water looked in the morning, and the ducks made the whole place feel extra cozy.
Brilliant, wide open park with a giant lake surrounded completely by a paved shoreline walkway. Numerous benches, a long bridge and several nice fishing piers are featured. Great place to walk your dog and picnicking spots abound. One whole side of the park is flanked by a sprawling swamp where access is wisely forbidden and well posted. Would be extremely peaceful were it not for the loud gunfire emanating from the firing range across the swamp.
