Spring Valley is a wonderful place for a family outing, a long walk, or a peaceful hike. The park features a Nature Center and the Heritage Farm, which makes the experience both relaxing and educational. After a short walk through a wooded area, you’re greeted by charming farmhouses, animal barns, and several scenic trails to explore. The landscape is diverse, with open fields, forests, marshes, brooks, and streams spread across about 135 acres, and the trails range from wooden boardwalks to natural rock and grass paths. I personally love coming here for quiet, stress-free time alone with nature—it’s the perfect place to reset and unwind. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, and parking is convenient with entrances available off both Schaumburg Road and Plum Grove Road.

Spring Valley has a Nature Center and also features the Heritage Farm. It’s really a neat place for a walk as you walk through a wooded area for about 5-7 minutes and then you see the farm houses with animal barns along with a few trails to follow. Spring Valley is a refuge of about 135 acres comprised of fields, forests, marshes, brooks and streams. Some trails are wood beamed while others are rocks and grass. It’s a really enjoyable place to spend a few hours by yourself, with friends and family. Parking and entrances to the park are available on both sides 1) off Schaumburg Road 2) off Plum Grove Road.

Beautiful place for a day out with the kids. There is a play area, charming historic buildings, old trees, prairie filled with all sorts of pretty flowers and a bird viewing area in the marsh. Also the nature center and the gift shop/ vegetable garden in the house near the farm buildings are a must visit. It is a lot of walking for little ones so it's better to have a stroller.
