(from Google)My dogs and I had a great time! Andrew is very friendly, knowledgeable and great with dogs. He helped one of my dogs become better socialized and helped my other dog improve her impulse control(shes since stopped jumping on any person she we meet while out on walks) and I picked up many useful tricks along the way. 10/10 would recommend!
Misha was described as nervous when I picked him up from the rescue, then between a serious case of anxiety on his mommy’s side, and two separate instances of dogs going at him he has become a bit nervous on the leash. Add in that he was super focused on bunnies, cats, and other small animals he’d become difficult to walk. He’d get frustrated and then turn that towards me. It wasn’t great and I found myself wondering if I was going to have to rehome him. Before Andrew and Alison we’d worked with another trainer who had described Misha as just being an a$$*#*! But then I found Complex Canine and did some research. During our in-person evaluation Misha didn’t hide his personality or his bad habits and they were honest with me about the amount of time and effort behavior modification would entail. During his 10 week board and train they did an amazing job keeping me in the loop on his training progress and when he was having big wins. Now a month later, I’ve become super confident in Misha’s response to commands and realized I can walk both my big dogs through a busy park on a weekend with out being a nervous wreck. I plan to keep working with Andrew & Alison (Misha’s only 19 months old) and can’t recommend them enough.
When we sent our dog to train with Alison and Andrew (Complex Canine) we were so hopeful yet doubtful following less than impressive training from other trainers. Yet, when we got our dog back from Alison and Andrew, we were BEYOND IMPRESSED AND MORE THAN SATISFIED. Our dog had serious anxiety and discipline issues and made it impossible for us to take him for a walk around the park on-leash. After training with Andrew and Alison we were very pleased to find our dog’s compassion and fun personality persisted but his hyper energy, anxiety, and discipline issues were now easily controlled. He is now at peace walking around the park on-leash with us, staying on his bed when the doorbell rings, and stays there until guests approach to pet him or greet him. He even responds well to commands and we can walk him off leash too. Alison and Andrew made certain we also received the necessary training for how to handle and continue work with our dog to ensure his training is reinforced and maintained. Our home is much more peaceful and our relationship with our dog is such that we’re comfortable taking him anywhere with us without having the stress of his behavior being out of control. We have referred neighbors to them who have indicated the training their dog received was “priceless”, which is exactly how we feel!
For any dog parent it’s a big decision to send a pup to board and train or to invest in training. There are so many questions. But for us - it was more than worth it to invest in him and get him the proper help! We found Complex Canine and I can’t begin to tell you how amazed we are by them. They changed my dogs life. When I first reached out, I knew Jax (my dog) needed intense help. Like INTENSE help. We tried with previous trainers and it just simply made him worse. And when I talked to Allison and Andrew for a few hours - they were so honest and want to do what’s right for Jax and for the client (us) who’s going to be missing their dog and investing money into their dog. I told them about jaxys problems and we did an evaluation and they gave me their professional opinion on what was needed for Jax and did not try to upsell or persuade us into something we were uncomfortable with. Prior to board and train we couldn’t take Jax out in public, he was a fluffy monster. I couldn’t do ANYTHING with Jax. He ruled my world - except in a bad way. I had to strategically take him potty at random times to avoid other dogs, took the stair case from my floor to avoid dogs in the elevator, couldn’t go on walks, couldn’t live the life I wanted to live with a dog because he was such a tyrant. When it was time for board and train Complex Canine asked for the items I wanted fixed and guess what .. I gave them 11 items and THEY FIXED ALL 11 + more. Jax has been home with us for a year (we sent him last September) and here we are today, a year later, absolutely amazed at Jax and everything he has retained. He is so obedient but he’s still Jax. Still silly and kinda clownish but he listens, he knows expectation, and we know how to communicate with him. Retention comes down to the way “drop off” works with Complex Canine. They spent almost 2 hours making sure my fiancé and I were comfortable handling Jax with the new expectation, training, and the learning curve. They also provided a folder for us with everything he learned and how to’s. It also comes down to holding your dog accountable everyday after training. I know this is a long post but I’m so happy I invested in my dog. I’m so happy I sent my dog to Complex Canine. They are the best in the business. Thank you to our 2 amazing trainers at Complex Canine. Thank you for knowing your stuff. Being honest. And caring for Jax every single day he was with you guys. And thank you for letting me be a crazy dog mom and checking in multiple times a day. Complex Canine is the best. OH they also have the best slip leashes in the world!!!
Andrew and Allison changed Walter’s life with the 10 week board and train. I have just dropped him again for a boarding and they will work with him again while I am out of town. He went from showing signs of aggression and constant anxiety to being happy and much more manageable. I had a couple trainers try to help him before and they failed. Complex Canine took on the challenge and learned his personality and taught me how to parent him where we could both be happy and feel safe.
