Great location here on lovers Lane and they’ve also got all the healthy dog food for the people that want to get that for their dogs and the staff was all really nice quick and easy process. Will definitely come back here again.

Extremely disappointed with grooming at Petco Lovers Lane (University Park). I took my calm, well-behaved 9-year-old dog Ralph here because my usual Petco Cedar Hill was booked. Huge mistake. This location is small, the grooming area is tight and not ideal for larger dogs, and they were clearly overbooked. Communication was terrible, and the grooming staff had attitudes anytime we asked for updates. What should’ve been a 4-hour groom took 6.5 hours with zero proactive communication. We checked on Ralph twice and were told both times they were “running behind” and “very backed up.” At no point were we told Ralph was difficult, uncooperative, or that there would be additional charges. When we checked on him over 5 hours later, one groomer even said “I don’t have a Ralph”—despite having checked him in herself. Another groomer then said it would take another hour and a half, which is how a 12:15 PM appointment wasn’t finished until 6:15 PM, after the store had already closed. At pickup, I was suddenly charged a $30 handling fee with no clear explanation. Only then was I told my dog supposedly “has issues,” which is completely false. I took photos of Ralph during grooming—he was calmly sitting, relaxed, smiling, and didn’t react at all, even after seeing me. He has never been charged a handling fee at other locations. Ironically, my other dog Luna (who actually has anxiety) has been groomed here before with no handling fee. The groom itself was rushed and sloppy: shed release clearly wasn’t done (hair still everywhere), teeth brushing wasn’t done though it was included, and his Australian Shepherd coat was cut way too short, almost shaved, despite asking for a basic round trim. I spoke with the store manager, who said he would escalate this to the grooming manager—but nothing came of it. There was no attempt to calm the situation, no accommodation, and not even an offer to remove the $30 fee. It showed a complete lack of customer service. Important note: Their training department is excellent. My other dog Luna trains here, and Emma is absolutely the best—kind, patient, fun, and extremely talented. Luna has come a long way because of her. After reading the many negative Google reviews specifically about grooming at this location, it’s clear this isn’t an isolated incident. Apparently, all those customers are wrong—and this salon is right. We will never return for grooming. If you care about your dog, go to Petco Cedar Hill instead—they are consistent, professional, and genuinely care.

I had the pleasure of working with the grooming team for the first time today. First off the immediate warm welcome and enthusiasm this group had was an immediate sell. They were so happy to meet my dog and I instantly felt like he was in a safe atmosphere. I NEVER and I mean NEVER take my dog to a dog store for grooming but they have exceeded my expectations. The cut was EXACTLY what I wanted and he looks great. Thanks petco grooming team! I will definitely be back!

It’s down the street from our Vet, we needed a cone for a giraffe neck dog and fast! I ran in and got exactly what I needed with the help from the lovely store associate. They were able to assist me in selecting the appropriate size and assured me I could return it if it didn’t work out. Well it fit perfectly. Thank yall! 💖🐾🦒

This is a nice smaller Petco. The construction on the street right in front makes it a little challenging to park. I have gotten great help on two different occasions. The last time I asked, what is a good chewing treat for an aggressive chewing dog. The young lady suggested the frozen raw beef bones. Needless to say they were definitely pupp approved by my dog, Ellis! Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I shall return.
