Inks Lake State Park

It's very pretty here. Our grandson caught his first fish off the very nice fishing dock. The general store presents children with a certificate and puts their picture on the wall with their fish. You can rent your choice of canoe, kayak or an adorable swan paddle boat, all very reasonable. People are hiking, swimming in the lake, boating and just enjoying a camping trip on a dime. Bath houses are plenty and nice. Lots of Geese trolling the area and several free loading squirrels. Lots of RV spots, fairly level, loads of tent slots, screened in shelters and even mini cabins for those who like to bougie camp and do not have an RV. Bonus, Longhorn Caverns is just a few miles down the road and a shaved ice truck is permanently on site with a rainbow of flavors. Something for everyone.

Inks Lake State Park is hands-down one of the best state parks in Texas. The scenery is beautiful, the water is crystal clear, and the entire park feels peaceful and well maintained. Whether you want to swim, kayak, hike, camp, or just relax and enjoy nature, this place has it all. The Devil’s Waterhole was definitely a highlight — watching people jump off the rocks was entertainment all by itself, and the water felt amazing on a hot Texas day. The hiking trails had incredible views, and every turn looked like something from a postcard. What really stood out was how clean and family-friendly everything was. Even the wildlife seemed relaxed… I’m pretty sure the deer there have better vacation plans than most people. If you’re looking for a perfect weekend getaway with Texas Hill Country views and great outdoor activities, Inks Lake State Park is absolutely worth the trip. Watch out for the squirrels and raccoons.

We visited Inks Lake State Park for the day with our dogs and had such a great experience. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the restrooms were extremely clean, which we really appreciated. The park itself was beautiful and very peaceful. We had a wonderful day exploring and enjoying the scenery. Definitely a place we would visit again!

Inks Lake State Park is a top-tier park in Texas. We have a small 20-ft trailer. Our spot was level and very shady. We loved that. As a Gen X'er, I'm all of a sudden interested in bird photography. And Inks has a FANTASTIC bird blind. It is totally worth a day trip. I've added some photos I took at the bird blind. ENJOY!

This park was amazing and had some awesome hiking trails. Not really bike-friendly unless you're very experienced or have an e-bike. Will definitely be back in the summer for some awesome swimming
