Cutest trail! Saw a big family (5+) deer having Sunday dinner together haha great for family/friend adventures! There’s a paved track winding through the woods or you can go off trail and have a hike like adventure. Throughout the trail there are portable bathroom here and there with trash cans nearby!

Beautiful area to hike which is in close proximity to the city. One can access the abonded C&NW UP Weber subdivision which is south of the river. One needs to wear sturdy shoes as the rail road ballast is still present. Be careful of bringing your dog and young children as the fence on the viaducts are in poor condition.

This is nice place to see the fall colors near the city, I spent good time here with friends and it has lot of parking space and community space to eat and sit. I really recommend visiting to enjoy and have good time.

LaBagh Woods is a great option in the city for picnics, and long walks! There are a variety of trails, both paved and unpaved. Trails are easy to follow, and the woods are so large you could easily spend a day walking the park. The stream running through is beautiful, and the wildlife and native plants are beautiful. Their facilities (bathrooms and picnic areas) are well maintained - but still park bathrooms (you might see a spider or two). Parking is abundant. This is a great place to visit if you’re on the north/northwest side of the city and want to escape into nature and forget you’re still in Chicago.

A stunning natural oasis in the city, this park features scenic wooded trails bordered by water. In spring, it transforms into a haven for migratory birds, especially warblers—many of which I spotted during a brief walk today. The area was alive with birders and photographers eager to catch glimpses of these travelers pausing on their journey. The park also offers well-maintained bike trails and ample parking.
