(from Google)This is a great park with easy trails and beautiful scenery. My pup and I enjoyed the clear paths and occasional surprise views. Visited on a Saturday and there was only two cars in the parking lot. We're from out of state and plan to visit this park another time or two before leaving. It really gives a great taste of the natural habitat of the San Angelo area.
Nice park. I went in the morning on a Sunday and it wasnt packed at all. Shaded for the most part by mesquite trees. Saw some birds and insects and squirrels. Lots of prints in the dirt. Vegetation is thick with shrubs and catclaw in some places. The trail is sandy so footstep noise are very suppressed. I think it was a mile loop. Flat for the most part. Connects to other parks and very close proximity to other parks and the lake.
Such a fantastic trail to walk your dogs! My husband and I had a great time here, the best trail in San Angelo we’ve found. Definitely would recommend for casual walking, small hiking, and taking your dogs out. I believe there’s a trash can right at the start of the trail so you can throw away poop bags, no restrooms as far as I saw.
The directions to this place is completely wrong. It took me to someone’s ranch / house. It said i arrived at my destination but i was at someone’s house and their big dogs came out. I drove 20 minutes to get here and i am so frustrated rn because all the reviews look lovely. Idk how to get to the trails
I honestly really enjoy this place at a minimum of once a week, but try to go a few times a week. It's an easy walk, with nothing to strenuous or hard. I go because I take my dog there, and he absolutely loves the walk and all the smells. It's nice to surprise my dog with this place so we don't do the same old walk day after day. The place is a little bit worn-out, meaning that probably with very minimal costs, the city could breathe some fresh life into this place. You can tell it used to have benches, bird houses, flowers, and a trimmed landscape, but all that is gone and forgotten. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fun walk, and I still go all the time. But, you can tell that the city has forgotten about this place quite a long time ago. Someone obviously goes and cuts the grass now and then, but it hasn't been taken care of in a while....
