Mount Tabor was absolutely beautiful yesterday afternoon the last day of May 2026. It was the perfect time and place to close a chapter and begin a new 💥❣️✨

Great park. Love coming here on Wednesday’s for Tabor Dance. It’s a bit of a trek up into it from most directions- all the directions I’ve tried, unsure how many entrances there are. There is a RR by the amphitheater. Basketball court. Plenty of trails paved and unpaved. Wednesdays are “no cars allowed in the park” days. Parking can be a bit rough on those days. I’ve only ever been on Wednesdays, so I’m unsure what the parking is like any other time. I haven’t actually seen any parking areas.

My first visit to this forest paradise hidden in the concrete jungle of Portland was filled with amazement and joy! The park is a mix of paved, gravel and dirt trails, wonderfully planted with proper flora and fauna for the PNW. Peace flowed from every corner, hidden and viewable. A park where ALL are welcome and coexist in a friendly forest world. I saw cyclists (mtn & racing & ebikes), runners, picnic-ers, families with children, parents with canine fur babies, silent disco fitness class and my troupe of Wisebody Walkabouts. T'was an incredibly moving couple of hours during which I merely dipped my toe in a walkabout and I cannot wait to return. This is a place to exhale stress and inhale the beauty and peace that is Mt. Tabor Park.

The best park I've ever gone to by far. I've been going here since I was 5 years old, and nearly 20 years later, traveling all over the place, I can confidently say this. From the beautiful view at the top, to the ethereal trees all over the place, you will never get bored here. I forget I'm even in a city when I'm on the trails. It's a super family friendly place. A few years ago there was a lovely area for free concerts in july, but unfortunately some damage has hurt the park in that reguards. I feel like everyone should experience this special place at least once in their lives. Support the park! Let's give Mount Tabor the love it deserves!

If you GPS to the Mt. Tabor tennis courts it will bring you close enough to the area where the reservoir is. There is parking in the nearby neighborhoods. Steep stairs or a ramp will take you up to the paved (but bumpy) walkway around the entire reservoir. It’s a pretty short walk around if you have long legs and walk briskly. You could finish the loop in about twenty minutes and probably make it back to your car. This is on the west side of the hill, so no Mountain View.
