The Mystic Kitchen & Tasting Room

We came here for dinner just a few days before Valentine’s Day. It wasn’t exactly the vibe I was going for. I was hoping for a romantic dinner. We had a candlelit table so I thought we were off to a good start. The live music was inappropriate in a fun and funny way so not what I would have liked on this particular night, but there were a lot of single people/groups there enjoying it. The special was a small piece of steak on beer cheese mashed potatoes-underwhelming for valentines week and it was $50. I had 4 scallops on a bed of thin asparagus and it was $35. Overpriced for the amount of food you get but the food was good. The bramble on dessert was delicious as were the spicy roasted carrots! And our server Emily was very sweet and efficient.

Owners Chelsea Heffernan and Terrie Vanderlugt, along with their incredible, long-tenured team, continue to raise the bar with high standards that shine through in every dish and drink. And speaking of standouts — huge shoutout to our server Nate Johnston, who delivered top-notch service with a smile that matched the kitchen’s energy. Let’s talk drinks: We kicked things off with a crisp Yuengling Beer, a vibrant Papaya Citrus Margarita, and the beautifully balanced Social Butterfly Mocktail — proof that Mystic excels at crafting experiences for everyone at the table. Appetizer favorites? The legendary B♡TCH Loves Dip! totally lived up to its name, while the Tamale Cakes had just the right blend of texture and flavor — nostalgic yet elevated. For mains, we shared Steak Sliders packed with savory bite, the Salty Caesar Flatbread (salty, saucy, and loaded with personality), and the irresistibly flavorful Sassy Chicken Thighs, which might just strut their way into our “Best of Bloomington” list. We also added a side Mystic Salad, which was through the roof delightful — fresh, bright, and the perfect complement to every dish that hit the table

Really cool, locally owned eatery with a great selection of wines and other spirits. Very friendly staff and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I had the hot stuff flatbread, which was outstanding. My wife had the shaved beef sliders. After tasting hers I wished I had ordered it as well! It's one of those places you know you'll have to visit more than once to get everything you want from their menu. Emily made the experience that much better!

Nathan was friendly and exceptionally helpful. Food was incredible. Troo of dips appetizers and pork belly were delicious. Tge brined cherry pork chops were sublime and thestucky toffee cake was out of thus world

When I looked at their menu online, I thought it might be a little too bougie for my girl group, but happily, I was wrong. We were greeted warmly by the owner and seated in the beautifully decorated dining room. They've restored many of the beautiful features of the old building they occupy. The menu offers a variety of things to choose from. My group of 3 ordered the large charcuterie tray and pretzel bites with spicy mustard and beer cheese. Both were fresh and delicious. The peach jam on the tray was a sweet bite after the tasty meats and cheeses. I also enjoyed the creamed asparagus soup, topped with a sour cream swirl. My taste buds were delighted! They have a large menu of cocktails, craft beers, and wines, but we didn't partake on this visit. The atmosphere is light and trendy with a casual feel. We came because we had won a gift certificate at an auction and thought we would try something new. I'm so glad we did. My friends and I enjoyed our visit there and are already talking about going back.
