Sunset Trail

I walked along the sunset drive hiking/walking path. I saw so many different types of plants and flowers. They were incredibly beautiful and some of them very fragrant. I kept walking along the path to get to Applegate zoo. Google maps didn’t suggest the hiking trial for the entire time but I figured out how to stay on that trail to reach the zoo. On the way, I saw a place where there were several burrows and squirrels. As I approached them, they ran into the burrows. And as I moved past the burrows, they slowly put their heads out to see if I’m gone. It was so cute and funny. The last parts of the trial were not that good. There was so much garbage disposed along this trail. It is such a beautiful location and despite that the trail is not maintained well. That was highly disappointing and sad. I wish the trail is well maintained so that more people can use it and appreciate it.

Enjoyed running on this trail until I nearly stepped on a huge snake that looked like it was 3 feet long right in the middle of the trail. It then slithered into the many holes in the ground and that’s when I realized this place is a breeding ground for snakes. Too scared to come back now. Also the trail does not have any shade so I might as well look for a different trail.

Great walking trail. No water here, but the views are still nice. Very easy beginners trail and you'll often see people biking as well. This trail is located next to the future general vang pao park. The beginning part of this trail takes you behind houses, but on the right you'll see a long stretch of fields. You can walk there as well. If you keep following the trail along cotton wood creek and fahrens creek you'll come across the village terrace apt. This is one of the many destinations that this trail can take you. Absolutely recommend for the views, fresh air and accessibility

Go right before sunset to see beautiful nature highlighted by the setting sun. Many birds and greenery in the spring and golden fields in the summer and autumn. Many bird species great for bird watching.

Beautiful walk to see the sunset! Lots of birds in the morning.
