I grew up in a neighborhood surrounded by freshwater swamps and creeks in Florida. This is probably the best trail in pinellas to see wildlife as well as a possible ancient. My 4 year old loved it and got to pet a red rat snake :).
Small but peaceful. Nice stroll with the husband.
It’s absolutely beautiful running/hiking this area. After rains you might have some flooded trails but overall they’re well kept. As it goes with anywhere in Florida, keep an eye out for danger noodles!
I went there at sundown in late June and could barely walk 5 minutes before leaving due to being swarmed with bugs. I sprayed OFF spray all over but that didn't stop the mosquitos from biting me. I had a constant buzzing in my ear from the bugs flying past me that I had to continuously swat away to no avail. I have been on many hikes and have never had to turn back after a few minutes simply due to bugs. This place was awful. Never going back.
