GOOD DOG BAR — PHILADELPHIA 224 S 15th St | Opened in 2003 | 3 Floors | Dog-Friendly We finally hit up Good Dog Bar in Philly after hearing their cheeseburgers were legendary, and let me tell you right now: this place did not disappoint. We started with the buffalo chicken wings, because I always say if the wings are good, the rest of the food is probably going to be good too. These wings were crispy, juicy, fiery, and absolutely drenched in homemade blue cheese dressing. The flavor was bold, the texture was perfect, and the heat came through just right. Trust test? Passed. Then we asked about the specials, and when they mentioned there were Latinos in the kitchen, we knew we had to try the chorizo empanadas. And wow. These might be the best empanadas I’ve ever had. They were packed with chorizo, potatoes, onions, poblano peppers, and Chihuahua cheese, then served with a chipotle crema sauce that brought everything together. Hot, juicy, savory, smoky, a little sweet, and loaded with flavor. I’m not even the biggest empanada person, but I would order these again and again. No exaggeration — these were incredible. Now let’s talk about the cheese sticks. Philly has its own food identity, and these cheese sticks were on another level. The cheese pull was absolutely ridiculous — I’m talking strings stretching across the table like they were building a bridge in mid-air. Pecorino-dusted, basil-kissed, marinara-dunked, and completely photogenic. I’ve never seen cheese sticks like this before. These are the kind of appetizers people stop and stare at. Then came the burgers. We tried two: the Good Dog Burger and the LT Burger. The Good Dog Burger is a half-pound sirloin burger stuffed with Roquefort cheese — not topped with it, but actually stuffed inside — with caramelized onions on a toasted brioche bun. This thing was juicy, rich, savory, and full of that deep blue-cheese flavor. It was an umami bomb in the best possible way. The bun was phenomenal, the burger was never dry, and the whole combination felt unique. The LT Burger was a cleaner, more classic option with lettuce, tomato, and a challah bun, plus a gluten-free option available. It was fresh, simple, and still satisfying. But that blue cheese-stuffed burger? That’s the one people are going to remember. For sides, we had fries and hot potatoes. There was a small mix-up with our order, but the staff fixed it immediately, which says a lot. The service was excellent the whole time. Since we were sharing everything, they kept swapping plates for us, checking in, and making sure we were taken care of. Super attentive, super friendly, and very professional. The bar itself was clean, lively, and welcoming, with a full bar, plenty of draft beers, rosé, white wine, red wine, and even mocktails. For drinks, we had the Fuego IPA and Allagash White. One was hoppy and bold, the other smooth, refreshing, and balanced. Both paired perfectly with the food. And for the dog lovers, this place is truly dog-obsessed in the best way. They have Bark Bites on the menu for your pup, dog photos everywhere, bone plates for the table, and even an annual dog photo contest. With three floors total and a pool table upstairs, Good Dog Bar has a lot more personality than your average neighborhood bar. Final verdict: 4.5 out of 5. Good Dog Bar is clean, friendly, flavorful, fun, and absolutely worth visiting. The cheese sticks were unforgettable, the empanadas were shockingly good, and the blue cheese-stuffed burger lives up to the hype. Aside from one small order mix-up that was fixed right away, everything about the experience was excellent. I kinda wish I got food but I’m not hungry so my loss. The guy next to me at the bar got a burger and it looks & smells great. I’m just chilling, it’s right near my hotel and it’s a great place. Super nice local folks and just a good vibe here. Plus they got a sticker for my favorite Mac Miller song, whether that’s true or not but we won’t worry. Highly recommend!

Good Dog Bar is my favorite bar in all of Center City! It’s three floors and each floor has its own vibe. I like the third floor with the pool table, darts, a tv and a few bar stools- lots of standing around and opportunities to talk to and meet people. They have a great citywide shot/beer special, using Yards Philly Standard. The food is excellent too. And of course, the photos of dogs all around are a great touch!

We were in town for a show at the Academy of Music and wanted a fun place for dinner! We found Good Dog on Google Maps and made our way over! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the bartender. We sat at one of the booths, and enjoyed delicious food and beer! There was 90’s music coming from the juke box and the vibe was upbeat and happy. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a laid back, fun atmosphere, with good food! *There is a parking garage a block up that was easy to access.

10/10!!! My mom and I were in the city to see a show at Kimmel Center and wanted to catch a happy hour before it. I looked online and Good Dog stood out, I’m so happy we chose this place. The ambiance and service is fantastic. Our server was Eric and he was the best! The music was super on point, such a vibe. We shared some apps - bang bang shrimp, chorizo empanadas, wings, and Mac & cheese - all of them were delicious. The shrimp was out of this world. I had a banh mi for my entree that also was top tier. We had liquid dessert, my mom an espresso martini and I had their Salted Caramel Martini… both chef’s kiss. I highly recommend Good Dog Bar.
