Easy trail for folks that are regularly active. We went on a cold day and not a lot of hikers or runners were on the trail. Nice view of the pond and lake. Since this is part of the California state park system, there is a fee to get to the trailhead. Would recommend purchasing an annual pass which provides access to all Northern California state parks if you visit state parks more than 10 times per year.

Avery’s Pond is 2 miles out from the Rattlesnake Bar trail head. It is beautiful in the spring! This is part of the Rio Del Largo 100 mile ultra. Lovely area!

Awesome hike! worth every step. Watch out for poison oak along trails.

I went on a Thursday in mid day and it wasn’t crowded at all, benefits of going on a weekday perhaps. I really enjoyed this hike and the beautiful scenery & views it has of the river. This was Nov 14th and the trail still had some fall foliage. It’s not hard with some mild incline, just enough to get the blood flowing. There are plenty of trees with shade for the hot days.

Easy 2.4 mile out and back trail. Has some elevation gain but manageable for most. Pretty good views of the north fork of American river. Pay $12 at the Rattlesnake Bar entrance. Benches available midway near the pond, good for families with kids.
