(from Google)Easy half hour hike to the falls with river style technicals. You’ll be climbing rocks and such which is why I would rate it as medium. There were a couple friendly stray dogs that kept us company through the hike. There are very few parking spots but we went on a weekday and it was fairly empty. The waterfall was larger than expected and very beautiful. Highly recommend this hike.
Nice place for hiking, one will need bug spray, shoes, snacks and potable water since it's located in the middle of nowhere. Some areas will have a rope ready to hold on into while climbing. Some areas are very slippery. The water is super cold and refreshing. You might encounter huge spiders and small snakes.
This trail was BEAUTIFUL! And the falls at the end are one of the most beautiful views I’ve ever witnessed in person. Parking was very scary and non existent. Just want to warn other travelers of that. You have to park on the side of the road where there are a lot of twists and turns. That was very stressful for my husband and I because we did not want someone to hit our car while it was parked. The trail itself is a mix of rocks and crossing the river over some rocks and an actual mud trail on the sides of the river. You have to zig zag a lot across the river but it is so fun. I would not call this trail kid friendly because of all the slippery rocks and steam declines and inclines. My recommendation is to find a local and ask to tag along with them. They can help you understand if there’s a flash flood coming, understand the area and the trail in general, and help guide you.
A most excellent adventure. The roads are steep, but easily handled if you drive in the lowest gear while going uphill and slowly while going downhill to give the breaks a rest. Park at the top of the hill before the trailhead if possible and walk down on foot (5 minutes). The hike to the waterfall is about 30 minutes, and prepare for a bit of mud and slippery rocks; suitable for mildly athletic individuals. Go early in the day, before lunch, to beat the crowds.
Drove from San Juan to here. The drive was narrow and windy. The drive has quite a bit of elevation gain. The hike is very muddy. Saw some people on the trail barefooted. Definitely don't recommend doing that. Wear shoes that have a good grip, you will be crossing in water, and your shoes (maybe even you) will get muddy. The hike is not for kids or anyone with limited mobility or poor balance. It would be challenging for them, and they could get injured (no cell signal once on the trail). The trail is not marked, so you'll need to pay attention to track where it goes. There are ropes at random points on the trail to help you across a couple of points. We didn't experience any issues with bugs. Water is murky the entire way; if you decide to cross at a certain point, it is deep enough that you would be required to swim. Avoid this hike on heavy rain days or even if it has rain consistently days before. Anyways don't leave any trash behind. Have fun and be safe.
