The Berkeley Boathouse

The food, starters, and drinks were genuinely very good, and the location has a pleasant atmosphere. However, the pricing during the UC Berkeley graduation period seemed significantly higher compared to rates reported by visitors during regular months, which felt disappointing. I was also surprised to see an additional health-related fee added to the bill, and the staff were unwilling to remove or clearly explain it. Greater transparency in pricing and extra charges would improve the overall experience considerably. Overall, good food and ambiance, but the billing practices left mixed feelings.

Update: went back and sat at a table, the service was amazing and would be 5 stars if my previous experience wasn't so poor. The food was solid and fast. Never got to try the food. Sat at the bar, got a drink quickly and then for the next 30 minutes the bartender never even checked on me or took my order, or asked if I needed anything else. I should have asked to move to a table where the servers seemed far more responsive. People seem to like the food and the view is cool being right on the bay. If I end up going back and I have a different experience I will change this but I ended up ordering from door dash to actually get food.

My husband and I had difficulty finding the restaurant, but when we finally located the place, Roger, or waiter made us feel so special! He greeted us with warmth, smiles and genuine friendliness! His help to order just what we wanted was wonderful! The salmon was very good and the clam chowder was delicious, with lots of clams.The Brussels sprouts were the best we’ve ever had! Then, the fruit cobbler was made to order! The ambience and view were spectacular! We look forward to returning soon!

The drinks were decent, and the appetizer really stood out. The shrimp and crab roll was definitely the highlight, but unfortunately the rest of the entrees didn’t quite live up to expectations. Overall, we left feeling unsure about the place—it has potential, but there’s room for improvement.

Our 2nd time here in a month. This could be a gold mine of they cared about locals. It's a beautiful bar/restaurant indoor outdoor space. But the staff isn't friendly, say NO too much, don't ask how you are doing (ok other than Roger). The bar is limited. They could pack happy hour if they thought about a small plate and drink program locals would love.
