K-9 Castle

I’ll start with the good - The front end staff did seem very nice. The woman I spoke to on the phone when scheduling a temperament test for daycare was particularly sweet and accommodating. I had two concerns when watching their webcam (which is behind a paywall, albeit it’s pretty inexpensive, but not included like other places): 1. They spritz the dogs with water to reprimand bad behavior. This is something I didn’t think to ask about given that positive reinforcement has become so prominent… I did some Googling and it seems it’s more common in daycare, but when I saw it occur, I could not tell what the dogs were doing wrong. I personally have a very young dog who is still learning right from wrong, so I feel particularly sensitive to him getting sprayed and not knowing why, but it was a behavior I thought other pet parents may want to be aware of. Totally understand this may come down to personal preference. ** I did want to edit this for further information following the owner’s response. Upon seeing dogs being sprayed, I called the location and asked, “Do you guys spray the dogs with water to correct behaviors?” And the person who answered said yes, after which I said I’d be by to pick up my pup. I’m not going to dispute the purpose of the dog’s being sprayed in the instance I was watching, but did receive what I believed to be confirmation that it is used as a means of keeping the dogs under control. 2. They had one dog on a leash in the play area for what seemed to be an extended period of time. Again, it wasn’t apparent why, but given that so many dogs are leash reactive, I was a bit concerned by it.

I took my dog here for the first time for his temperament check on Monday. I was so impressed with the customer service and how well they took care of my pup. I got pictures of him at the end of the day and he came home happy and exhausted. We will be coming back!

Rebecca was my favorite employee who I'd always see when I came in to drop my dog off. She really brightened my day and was in many ways the face of K9 Castle here in Lakewood but they fired her! So sad to see her go- she really did care about the pups and I don't think I'll be back.

I've used K9 Castle for over 5 years now, and they are truly the best people. Both dogs I've taken are always ecstatic to be dropped off, and have come home happy and tired. I trusted them with my senior dog and now I trust them with my new puppy. They treat your dogs better than royalty– they treat them like family.

After doing ton of research, i found k-9 castle in Lakewood, for my dog Bentley he is a 10 months Great Pyrenees. We have been using the daycare services and I’m so happy, Bentley is tired when i pick him up, i can watch him playing through the cameras ( as an obsessed dog mom this is my favorite thing) , they have extremely convenient schedules, we are honestly so relieved that we found k-9 castle for my pup!
