(from Google)I didn't know what to expect here as I generally don't like German food. I figured I would be able to find something to eat on the menu. I opted for the German Shepherd's Pie, and I couldn't believe how incredible it was. The portion was more than generous, and I honestly couldn't get enough of it. Despite being full I couldn't stop eating it. I remarked to my friend that I was tempted to pick up the dish it came in and lick it clean. She got the pierogis and the German Shepherd's Pie as well, and while she liked the pierogis, she faced th same problem with the Shepherd's Pie - she couldn't stop eating it!! We both rolled out of there that night vowing to go back soon to have it again. We wound up there the next day and each goes the German Shepherd's Pie again. If we had wallets large enough, we would be back much more often! Great wait staff, nice atmosphere, and the food is top notch!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ OUTSTANDING – A True Taste of Germany in Staten Island Killmeyer’s Old Bavarian Inn delivered an exceptional dining experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance transported us straight back to Germany—the stained glass, warm wood, and traditional décor create an atmosphere that is both authentic and timeless. The food was absolutely superb. We started with the Pancake Experience, Baby Spinach, Forest Mushrooms, and the 3-Sausage Sampler—each dish executed perfectly, rich with traditional flavors and clearly made with care and quality ingredients. The Brezel Burger with American cheese was outstanding, and the Pierogies were comforting, hearty, and spot-on. Pairing everything with a ½-liter Spaten Lager was the perfect touch. We finished with Apple Strudel, which was nothing short of excellent—warm, flavorful, and a perfect ending to a memorable meal. Killmeyer’s isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. Authentic cuisine, generous portions, attentive service, and an atmosphere that truly takes you back to Bavaria. This is a Staten Island gem and easily one of the best German dining experiences we’ve had. Amanda was great Bravo!!!. We’ll absolutely be back. —
I had the pastrami sandwich and it was absolutely delicious! Robbie, my son, had a cheeseburger and he loved it. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. I appreciate that they are wheelchair accessible and the parking is free, though the lot is on the smaller side. Overall, a wonderful experience for both adults and kids.
I had a pleasant dinner here with my father and relatives. We ordered multiple items, and I had a chance to taste the Forest Wives Mushrooms, Bistro Salad, Oven Braised Beef Brisket, and Crème Brûlée. I also had a pear cider and coffee. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely, with jazz music playing and the old-fashioned Bavarian ambiance. The service was also excellent, though they took a bit longer than expected to bring us dessert. The location is convenient, with plenty of parking across the street.
Absolutely incredible spot. The old German decor & style had me reading the back of the menu about its entire history. Food was impeccable & portions are huge - especially that goulash soup. Service was friendly & efficient. I would absolutely travel from the North Shore just to have dinner here for the atmosphere & food. 10/10 highly recommend.
