(from Google)Prior to working with Kate we were dealing with a reactive dog who would lose it at the sight of any other dog, no matter the size or breed. This happened after he was attacked by an off leash dog. We dealt with reactive behavior for over a year until we decided to seek professional help. From the begging Kate seemed confident we could make positive changes if we put in the time and work. We chose the 8 training sessions. I def feel like we got our moneys worth! Each week we worked to teach our dog new commands that were easy and effective. Within a week we started to see positive changes. Kate helped us teach our dog that not all dogs are a threat and how to manage his behavior if he decided to react to other dogs near us. We worked hard to train each day and made the most out of our 8 sessions. I can honestly say that our walks are so much more enjoyable with and we have learned how to communicate properly with the dogs so that we are all on the same page. Our boy seems so much more confident when he is around other dogs. It’s seriously like night and day. If you’re considering working with a behavioral specialist for your dog I would encourage you to work with Kate if you wanna see results. She has truly been a godsend and we are thankful that we found her. A plus is that we used all the techniques she taught us with our female dog who is stubborn as hell. She has gained confidence and seems to enjoy our training time together. She actually does better than our boy. All in all 10/10 experience.
I rescued a eight month old Rottweiler from a rescue that I have worked with previously. When he first came to me, we started realizing the people that “found him“ had not treated him the way he should’ve been as a puppy. I seriously questioned if this dog was way outside of my ability, five Rottweilers, and this was the first time that I was actually borderline scared of a dog. I contacted several trainers throughout the area all of which said they didn’t do this kind of work. One of them finally referred me to Comprehensive k9 and Kate. With our first meeting, she was able to let me know, he was not aggressive. He was scared and that there was work to be put in, but that he was going to be a really good dog, he is a punk, but he’s amazing. We did one on one trainings for almost 5 months and now have continued into group class trainings. Kate has taught us the value of different training tools to be used when training and helped me with different ways of working with him in order to build that relationship. When there were health issues , and the dreaded vets office visit, Kate dropped everything and came to help me with him in order to build a relationship with vets and help me with knowing how to handle him at the vets office. The dog that I thought was going to have to go back to the rescue will now never leave my home. From the dog that no man could walk into my house when he was eating to the dog that now loves pretty much everybody. It’s been a 180 turn around. Comprehensive k9 was instrumental in training, both owner and dog and being a wonderful resource. Every one on one training is followed with an email with videos and there is always availability via text or phone for additional questions. Comparatively her pricing is amazing from what some of the other trainers throughout town are offering. We’ve now moved into canine good citizen training and are looking forward to that journey. I can’t say enough good things about Comprehensive k9 and the owner. They are absolutely amazing.
Kate was absolutely wonderful to work with. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and always had insightful suggestions that made a real difference. Her approach focused on positive reinforcement and small, manageable changes that had a huge impact. My dog is 91 pounds and used to bark, jump, and practically drag me down the street just to say hi to every person and dog we passed. Thanks to Kate’s guidance, he’s become so much calmer and more responsive on our walks. I truly can’t recommend her enough—if you’re looking for a trainer who understands both dogs and their humans, Kate is the one to call!
If you are looking for a dog trainer in Jacksonville, kate is great! We had already done a lot of training, but there was more we wanted to work on when we met her and she’s been so helpful. We mainly worked on dog/handler relationship, leash walking/pulling, neutrality and building confidence. Leash walking has been progressively getting much easier and we’ve had opportunities to work with other dogs in her training which was so helpful and fun. We’ve learned tools that we can continue to work on to better the relationship and communication between my dog and I, as well as continuing to work on his leash manners when we are out in public. We are looking forward to potentially doing scent work in the near future as well :)
Kate was very helpful with the puppy fundamentals. Our pup looked forward to her visits making the training fun not scary. Kate was very professional, reliable, and brought alot of experience and warmth to the trainings. I highly recommend her service.
