(from Google)Probably one of the best group of trails in central Florida. Some of the most beautiful wilderness Florida has to offer there's everything from scrub land, oak Forest, open pasture and I nice creek with a tiny waterfall called itchy falls but it's only a small limestone shelf in the creek. Lots of birds, gopher tortoise, rabbits and tons of deer go after 6pm you will for sure see at least 1. If you plan on going way back on the blue trail make sure you have tick repellent I picked a spot just off trail in the shade to relax and cool off and got covered in tiny pinhead size ticks definitely make sure your dogs have flea and tick protection as well. The oak trees are definitely very old and branch off unlike any I've ever seen anywhere else and I've been all over the state. Bringing water is necessary if you plan on doing anything other than the red trail they go for miles back there. For the real serious outdoor lovers going barefoot is no issue even though the signs say wear sturdy shoes trails are cut and wide you can always see where you step I only find the rocky section going from red to yellow to be the only rough spot on bare feet in the entire preserve. There's only one place I find more appealing and that's Circle B and it's only because a majority of the wildlife doesn't run or fly off when you get near or pass by. Unfortunately the deer here usually run off once the spot you buy sometimes if you stay very quiet and sit down they eventually carry on.
Nice trail to take the horses out to ride at (or I've seen people hiking too) as long as its not too hot. Nice clear trails but not woodsy and not shaded. Great for spunky winter gallops
One of my favorite places to go hiking. There's plenty of Geocaches out here to hunt too. I like the more Northern trails as its usually much more quiet there.
Nice place to hike. Parking lot is right there on Knights Griffin (Google map "green area" suggests not).
I went out there for the Hillsborough County Hiking Spree and it was awesome. Nice ride out there. No fee to park. Trails we're nice, well kept and marked. Maps of trails at parking area. Pet friendly. Had a great hike! Will return soon.
