The food was good but didn't live up to the menu name expectations. I ordered the El Diablo. The patty, the bun, and the usual toppings (onion, tomato, pickle) were good. But I ordered the "El Diablo," which I thought was supposed to have heat? It tasted like a regular cheeseburger. Even ordered extra jalapeños. The burger came out with only a few jalapeños (which I guess included the extra which I was charged $2 for). Maybe it usually comes with 2-3 peppers? It came with pepper jack, which isn't really a spicy thing in itself. Just call it a cheeseburger with jalapeños from now on, not "El Diablo." The service was good, but one of the servers (not ours) shouted loud as heck several times when answering a question from another server. Seemed like maybe they were trying to be funny, but it was just loud for no reason. There were like 5 of us in the restaurant. No need to be screaming at full volume. Atmosphere was fine. It's historic by age, but gives a mostly sports bar vibe that wants to be a hole in the wall. Prices were a little high. $8 each for a pint of beer. Regular price on the burger I got is $18 (but got $2 off for Tuesday special), but then paid that back in $2 for 2-3 extra jalapeños. Overall we paid around $65 for 2 burgers, 2 beers, and fries with tax and tip. A bit expensive but hey, it's historic downtown Memphis or something like that. Maybe we'll come back on dollar wing day. Otherwise, I'm glad we tried it but won't be coming back if we're craving a burger.

Looks are deceiving! The al fresco area up front had two customers but when I walked inside it was fairly busy. The two ladies ( Maria was the bar keep) and cook were busy taking care of the patrons! The reviews stated that the food was pretty good, especially the burgers! They were pretty accurate! I had the spicy Diablo with Monterey pepper jack and grilled sliced jalapeños. It was fantastic!!!!! Give this little classic venue a try the next time you’re in Memphis! Great , friendly staff, amazing burgers, cold drinks, and a lively vibe!

Great spot downtown with great portion sizes. Incredible diversity in their menu especially with burgers. The service was very kind and helpful, and relatively quick considering they had one waitress at lunchtime. Plenty of decorations which add tremendously to the atmosphere of being a small local place.

We dropped in for dinner and had a good experience. The service was top notch and the food was good overall. Brianna was our server and she was awesome. We started with the Chicken Fajita Tots which were delicious. We then had the Fried Mac Bites which were good also. I decided to try the fried catfish plate with fries. My wife and I both ordered the catfish. We both agreed the catfish was ok but didn’t live up to the hype based on the previous reviews. Next time I’m here, I will try a different entree. Our kids had the burgers and chicken sandwich which they said were good. The kitchen closes early so you should plan to be here no later than around 9pm or so. There is a nice bar with frozen drinks also. Don’t forget to tip your server. Overall, this was a good experience and we will be back.
