I can’t recommend Planet Fish Aquatics enough. When I was dealing with sick fish, they were one of the only places that actually told me the truth and genuinely tried to help instead of just making a sale. Everyone there is super friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about fishkeeping and proper animal care. They take the time to answer questions, explain things correctly, and make sure you understand what your fish actually need. Their products and livestock are amazing quality, and you can tell they truly care about the health of the animals they sell.

Really cool place with a very knowledgeable staff we got some exceptional fish from them for a couple different tanks we have going and not only were the fish in amazing health and ate as soon as we got them in their new homes they were very reasonably priced compared to the other stores in sioux falls. You are not receiving unquarantined new shipment fish you are receiving locally bred fish conditioned to live in our tap water parameters!!! You literally can't buy better fish than locally bred in our water!!! Now for the best part.....we get our fish bagged and paid for there was a miscommunication on price and before I could turn on my vehicle to leave the owner Tyson had ran outside in the freezing cold to get our attention as he had realized we overpaid as the nice woman ringing us up had heard him wrong for the price and inadvertently overcharged our card! Now they could've kept that $20 and I may have never realized but instead they solidified my return in the future as well as gave me the incentive for an honestly earned fully real 5 STARS!!!!!!!!! I Can't wait for their new shop location good job guys!!!!!

I have been to 100s of fish stores. If you look at my other reviews you will see that I only rate the best. The #1 thing to get 5 stars from me is the husbandry of the fish. I am looking for happy and well fed fish. Also the owner is so knowledgeable and has a true passion for the hobby.

This is BY FAR the best shop in Sioux Falls if you have freshwater fish! The fish here are the healthiest I’ve seen basically anywhere else - including in my travels. The fish are also kept in appropriately sized, clean, and (live) planted tanks. The owners have a wonderful selection with everything from bettas to rare plecos with an assortment of color variants and species. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. This store may be new, but their healthy and happy/healthy fish show years of experience and effort being put into proper care. One comment mentions expensive prices, but they are actually cheaper than other local stores and actually have healthy and well-cared for fish (if u want rock bottom prices for sickly fish at Petsmart, be my guest). I love supporting a LFS (local fish store), but the options in SF weren’t great. Woofs&Waves always had dead and emancipated fish (the pea puffers are always riddled with worms and skeletal). Minicritters has sketchy sourcing of their fish (and their puppies too but I’m not getting into that) and unethical practices (often carry “painted fish” that are actually Indian glassfish injected with dyes - and no, these are actually injected and NOT Glofish which are genetically modified). I’ll choose this store every time!

This is honestly my favorite store in town. The owner is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about the fish keeping hobby. You can tell he is passionate and cares about his creatures. He will go above and beyond to ensure they have proper care and that they go to the right home. It's really fun to visit and see what's new. You can find freshwater fish, neocaridina shrimp, aquatic plants and more! I HIGHLY recommend this shop for sourcing your freshwater livestock.
