Highland Square Family Vet

We had an excellent experience with Dr. Mercak and the entire staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, professional, and compassionate from the moment we arrived. Dr. Mercak was thorough, knowledgeable, and took the time to carefully explain everything and answer all of our questions. We drove over an hour specifically to see Dr. Mercak, and the quality of care was absolutely worth the trip. One thing that really stood out was how comfortable our cat felt during the visit. She is usually very stressed at veterinary appointments and often urinates out of fear, but this time she remained calm and didn't have that reaction at all. That speaks volumes about the gentle handling and welcoming environment created by Dr. Mercak and the staff. We are very grateful for the excellent care our cat received and would highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate veterinary team.

Dr. Bell and James were amazing at our latest visit. Dr. Bell is very thorough and explained things very well. James was very patient and gentle with our pup. The front desk workers are always so welcoming and accommodating. We are grateful for HSFV!

We visited Highland Square Family Vet for the first time as new residents to the Lakeland area. We were given them as a recommendation from a new neighbor who takes their pets to Highland Square. The team was incredible. They were friendly, welcoming, efficient, and thorough. We didn't have to wait long. Front desk staff took care of all paperwork meticulously. The vet tech and doctor were incredible and thorough during the examination. We have four dogs and came from the most incredible vet back in TN, so we are very discerning. We were sold on the first visit.

I cannot recommend Highland Square Family Vet enough! After a frustrating experience with a previous vet who seemed more interested in scheduling unnecessary follow-ups than actually helping, finding this team was a breath of fresh air. They truly care about the pet, not focusing on keeping you coming back for more money. The staff is incredibly friendly, and I was so impressed when they called just to follow up and see how my pet was doing. They take the time to provide great education on care so I feel confident at home. If you want a vet you can trust, this is the place.

I’m not sure why I haven’t done this sooner. I’ve been bringing my dogs to Highland Square for years. Loved Dr. Thomas, but Dr. Marsh is the best vet I’ve ever worked with. She has been my vet for three of my dogs, and by far she is the most down to earth, compassionate vet I’ve ever worked with. I have a dachshund with Cushings disease. The maintenance and meds are very expensive, and Dr. Marsh is fully aware of that and worked out a plan to keep my dog comfortable and my bank account better off than it would be otherwise. The techs and the front desk staff are great too. Highly recommend this vet!
