(from Google)I can't tell you how grateful I am for Barkonia opening up here in Alameda. They filled a void in figuring out where Charlie can go for a day of play, when we need to visit clients, or when we just want him to get some exercise on a rainy day. There are so many positive things about Barkonia, which I will attempt to highlight: 1. The PEOPLE who work there. They so clearly enjoy getting to know the dogs and aren't giving off a "I am just here to get a paycheck" kinda vibe. Charlie loves them - and sprints through the door towards whoever is there to greet him. I genuinely enjoy drop-off and pick-up because the people we have met there are really nice humans. 2. The REPORT CARDS. I love seeing how Charlie did each day that he was there. Some of the best pics I have of him are from his report cards. It helps to see how he interacted with the other dogs, and get insights on what he did that way, play-wise. They are so well written that you can tell there was effort put in, and that the staff keeps a close eye on the dogs (I have left him in other places where he came back with scratches and other issues, which led me to believe nobody was keeping an eye on the dogs). 3. The CLEANLINESS of the facility. Again, he has come back from other daycares and boarding facilities, smelling and clearly having been in a place with a poor cleaning regimen. When I pick him up from Barkonia, he is as clean as when I dropped him off, which speaks volumes about the level of care they put into keeping the facility clean. 4. The PRICING is fair. I noticed a lot of pet care providers gouging customers post-pandemic, because they were in big demand. I don't feel like I am being taken advantage of in any way, and feel that they were thoughtful in their pricing approach without being greedy. I could go on, but given this is already lengthy, I will wrap it up by saying that Charlie and I LOVE Barkonia, and we look forward to a very long relationship. 💕🐶
Absolute best in town! The place is super clean and staffs are so professional and friendly! My puppy had a blast at day care and looked so handsome after grooming. Definitely 10/10 would recommend!
My dog has never looked happier than when she’s at daycare here 😂. They take a lot of great pictures and write detailed reports. Highly recommend!
This is a great dog daycare business. I highly recommend it! The are competitively and generously priced, do more for your dog than other locations such as multiple walks, feedings, playing fetch, and writing daily report cards without an extra charge. The owners and staff are very personable, friendly, and positive people. My dog is excited to see them when I drop her off. They are located in a safe, pleasant neighborhood with easy access to the freeway and AC transbay buses. It's hard to tell there is even a business there by the outside of the building but the inside is nicely decorated and there is AC just in case. The owners have been flexible with their time. While they would prefer you to make a reservation, they don't require it, and especially not a several days in advance. They also don't require a minimum number of days per week commitment. The owners get report cards with photos about their dog's daily activities with their friends that are a joy to read. The reports tell me if my dog took a nap, who her playmates were, and what games she played. We have run into my dog's friends from Barkonia at the dog park, whom I recognized from the reports. Apparently my dog has a social life, too!
Barkonia is open for business. We got our 2 dogs assessed there. They have 2 areas, one for big dogs and another for small dogs. They intend to be open for grooming and boarding in the coming weeks and months as well. Owner was super friendly. We’re happy with their safety practices. They also upload report cards with photos. Will update the review after our first few daycare sessions.
