(from Google)From the minute I walked into this place I was disgusted. These ppl should not own a pet shop, they only want the money and do not care about the pets. My friend asked me to find him a yorkie if not I would not even went in. I asked if they had Yorkies, the lady took me up two long flights of stairs and went to a little dark room and brought out a teacup yorkie. She was so frightened and boney. When I held her she reeked like nothing but cigarettes, you could of seen the black in her ears and the smell that came out of them was even worse. When the lady put her down she couldn't walk. We thought she had health issues but it’s because she was never let out of a cage from the time she was born. She kept falling with every step she took. I was heartbroken. I asked the lady how much did she weigh because all you felt was bones and she said no more than 2lbs. I looked at my hubby & said we must take her, this is wrong and neglectful. The lady said she smelled like cigarettes because the man that was there would smoke in that room where she was kept in the dark all day. I couldn't bare the thought. I questioned the man and he said “she will be okay” and I told him that's neglect, she's under 2lbs and her ears are black. She was so dirty. Lady said $1800 for her in which we told her we can take her for $1500, she said no. I told my hubby let’s just pay the $1800 and get her out of here. It took her over 3 hours to walk in my house, my hubby kept walking back and forth until she got the hang of it. I gave her a bath immediately and took her to the vet the next day to get checked. She had ear mites and yeast build up in her ears. 14 Q-tips later and her ears were still coming out black. Can you imagine?? 2 days later they called me her poop results came back with Parasites so more meds for that. We spent over $800 in medical to get her updated plus her vaccines. The friend I went to get the yorkie for said he could not take her now so we made the decision to forever home her. We named her Bella, she has been with us 2 months now and is so happy, gaining weight [now weighing 2.3lbs] and running around the house enjoying life. I guess that’s the only thing this place did good was let me find her. She is my forever baby now. BE CAREFUL BUYING FROM THIS DIRTY NEGLECTFUL PLACE. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN
I must say I’m saddened I found out that I’m allergic to Max( Welch Corgi) he was lovable and friendly, including with my grandchildren, never barked . Wee wee pad trained instantly. He loves cuddles🥰🥰🥰! Again, I am deeply saddened that I won’t be his caregiver anymore. I am glad that the pet shop took Max back in without any hesitation. The owner was understanding, and I appreciate their business .
Great prices for Neon Tetras, the fish are hardy. Attached picture shows a happy Betta. I would recommend the store incorporate live floating plants to do less water changes. The ones in my picture are Pathos, Pearlweed, Java Moss, Hornwort & Duckweed. Plants you can’t see also include Hygrophila polysperma.
Decent enough of a selection, the setup is definitely a little outdated but their tanks aren't filled with a ton of dead fish like some major retailers. Plenty of fresh and Salt water fish. Sadly the LFS is a dying breed and there isn't much that can be done. I'd recommend at least checking them out if you're in the area.
Overall I think it's a good place, I buy mice from them every week. And the staff seems really friendly. The good thing is that this is the only place in queens that I know I can always buy a mouse for a reasonable price and they always have them in stock. The only thing I don't like is how they put them in a rice box when you buy them but it's really not that big of a deal.
