I took my sweet baby Valentina to VEG ER, she didn't make it, my heart will hurt forever but one part of my heart is happy because I was with her ALL THE TIME, I never left her alone, Dr Paulina and nurse Grecia and everyone were so kind with us. They didn't put pressure on me to take the most horrible decisions I have ever done, they allowed to take my time to be with my baby, I am glad I didn't take her to another place where you have no idea what is happening 💔 Thanks God for making me to go to this place. También me hablaron en español ❤️ with all my gratitude, thanks for making Valentina go in peace and be son kind with her mom, meaning me. I miss my baby so much! Thanks to the guy who was very kind removing her catheter and helping me to put her in a white box to buried her. And thanks to the client that gave me the a big hug that I Will never forget, I wish I can know who was to tell her thanks for that hug that make me feel peace for minutes. Thanks for being so kind with our babies. With Love NORMA AND VALENTINA 🌈🐾🐾🕊🐱

The unkind and unempathetic vet tech on Tuesday said I should not clean my dog who has horrible uncontrollable bloody diarrhea. Then the tech later came in our room and simply thought I was cleaning my dog and sternly reprimanded me (I was actually cleaning the floor because she had done a horrible job of cleaning up the diarrhea). The veterinarian said it was probably OK to clean her and said to put coconut oil on her, but did not seem at all confident so I was unsure who to listen to because the vet tech scared the crap out of me when she reprimanded me so strongly for just thinking I was cleaning off my puppy. So I bathed my pup once and put on coconut oil in the morning, and then did not clean her again until the next morning. But the next morning, her symptoms worsened (again) so I took her to Ricky Gorge. Now my dog has a skin infection because of not cleaning her, according to a Vet at Rocky Gorge. I also was encouraged at VEG to leave before even seeing the veterinarian by two vet techs, even though my dog had stopped eating and drinking.m at that time. If this had happened, if I had left, my dog would not have had her very full anal gland expressed or gotten the appetite stimulant or numbing butt powder or subdermal fluids. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the vet she saw at Rocky Gorge says that there is probably something else going on because her symptoms are so severe, so I'm guessing VEG did not properly diagnose her. VEG also wanted to charge $2000 for a 12 hour hospitalization, while Rocky Gorge is charging $1600 for a 24 hour hospitalization (which she is currently undergoing). Despite her severe symptoms, the VEG veterinarian discouraged hospitalization even though it was our third visit in two days for steadily worsening symptoms. First slightly bloody diarrhea, then vomiting, then no eating or drinking and severe butt sensitivity, now very bloody bright red diarrhea. I do want to name however, the previous two visits were very different. The vet techs were lovely and kind. They offered water or coffee and a snack (which did not happen the third time). One even coached me through breathing when I got scared of my pup worsening. They cleaned the floor sufficiently after an accident. The veterinarian we saw both times was attentive and patient. They were all extremely gentle with me and my dog. So I do not want to dismiss those positive experiences, but the third visit was so horrible it is hard not to and may have led directly to her current downward trajectory. I called VEG twice and reported all of this. The first time, I was told the supervisor would speak to the technician team because I didn't remember the name of the vet tech. But the second time I was much firmer that the vet tech I saw on the third visit be directly addressed because there was no way they didn't have a record of who I saw. The supervisor replied, "I thought you weren't going to listen to the tech and were going to clean her because of what the veterinarian said?" so she was clearly trying to pin it on me, someone who has barely slept and has missed work to tirelessly take care of my sick dog. I am mostly unemployed, but occasionally get a subbing gig and had to miss the three offers this week to stay home with my dog because VEG would not take her symptoms seriously and would not help her sufficiently. And to try to blame ME for listening to YOUR veterinary technician? While I'm crying on the phone about how my dog is worsening? Disgusting behavior. I have not been taking pictures while she has been sick because I don't want to look back on this horrible time, assuming we make it past this. But I did take a picture of how I set up the backseat to try to minimize the diarrhea and blood on my car. And I included a picture of my beautiful baby her first time wearing her service vest as my emotional support dog for trauma and anxiety. Please keep her in your thoughts. Her name is Cinnamon, short for Cinnamon Toast Crunch because of the swirls on her fur.

I had a terrific experience at a different VEG ER so when I relocated to DC with my 2 cats it was a relief to be around the corner from their H St location. I brought in my sweet boy Arlo for a wellness exam out of an abundance of caution after noticing his appetite was down. From the moment I stepped in, I was met with the utmost professionalism and kindness as was my baby Arlo. The staff are extremely informative and clearly care deeply about their fur patients. Arlo is usually terrified around others but they were very gentle with him and he was more relaxed than he usually is with strangers. Thank you for the peace of mind and helpful next steps.

Highly recommend taking your pets to VEG ER. They were incredibly sweet and had a great bedside manner. Even though they were busy, they checked up on me and my cat multiple times while we were waiting. They even had coffee! After her procedure, they gave me her meds in a bag with her name and a cookie drawing on it! (Her name is Cookie) I thought that was the sweetest most thoughtful thing ever! Dr. Forester did a wonderful job with cookie, and Tabitha and Taylor were also amazing!!

Genuinely so grateful for the supportive, attentive staff at VEG. My dog had to stay for two nights on an IV and everyone was incredibly accommodating of his needs and mine - I felt welcome to stay as long as I wanted, my anxious questions were answered, and everyone understood the love I have for my dog and the concern I had for his health. My dog received the best care I could have expected. His nurse Shay in particular was amazing. When I wasn't able to be there, I received regular updates by text and phone, and I appreciated the level of price transparency. He's very anxious and the team went above and beyond to try to help him settle, going so far as to set him up with TV on an iPad for a distraction (lowkey better care than I've received myself in any human ER). In a really scary situation, all of the workers were soothing and understanding. Happy to report Roger is home safe - if he needs emergency care again, I'd return to VEG in a heartbeat.
