First Landing Beach

First Landing State Park Beach is one of the most peaceful and well-maintained beach spots in the Virginia Beach area. The environment is exceptionally clean, which immediately sets it apart and makes for a more relaxing experience. Parking is conveniently available, making access easy and stress-free. It’s also a great option for pet owners, as dogs are welcome—adding to the overall laid-back and inclusive atmosphere. What I appreciated most is how quiet and uncrowded it tends to be. Unlike the more hectic areas along the oceanfront, this beach offers a calmer, more serene setting that’s perfect for unwinding, taking a walk, or simply enjoying the water without the usual crowds. Overall, a hidden gem for anyone looking for a cleaner, quieter, and more relaxed beach experience in Virginia Beach.

First Landing is a lovely, clean beach with a great natural feel. Access is easy via several long boardwalks that take you over the bushy dune areas from either the campground or the visitor parking. The boardwalks open up to some beautiful sandy trails winding through the dunes, offering stunning views up and down the coast. I visited on an April weekend, the beach felt peaceful. There were plenty of people out, but it never felt overcrowded, and I was still able to enjoy a quiet experience in nature. The dune areas and tall grasses near the boardwalk entrances provide a nice sense of enclosure and protection from the wind, which was especially appreciated since I was visiting with my cats. It’s a great spot for a scenic walk or a relaxing morning by the water!

Beautiful, quiet beach if you wanna change a pace from Virginia Beach without all the extra people and craziness this beach is it they have bathrooms good parking. It is far and we have a office center as well.

Loved it! Very clean. Not nearly as crowded as ocean front. Clean restrooms. (Only 2!) Outside shower rinsing station. Affordable parking for all day access. Paved parking. Separate camping area. Easily accessible for ADA, strollers, wagons. Dog friendly. Clean beach. Warm water. Very calm water. We saw pelicans and dolphins while in the water. We will definitely be back!

Nice park with decent beachfront, you can find hermit crabs ect. here. Very beautiful entrance fee is only 10$ and the provide restrooms!
