Integrative Canine Coaching

Sammy was recommended to me by a coworker after I asked who she had worked with when training her dog, because he is lovely and so well behaved. Our current dog is overall a great dog, but there were a few behaviors we had never fully addressed that were starting to bother me, mainly greeting people politely when they enter our home and overreacting to delivery drivers. I have worked with many trainers in the area with both our current dog and a previous dog who was hugely challenging, and Sammy is by far the best trainer we have ever worked with. I so wish we had found her years ago before our other dog passed, because I truly believe she would have made our lives with him so much easier. We have only had two sessions with Sammy for our current dog and have already seen more progress than we did over months with other trainers. Her sessions are incredibly in depth, yet she explains everything in a way that is easy to understand and very relatable. Our dog is sensitive but still needs clear boundaries, and Sammy has mastered a balanced approach to training that no other trainer we have worked with has been able to achieve. I have experience with both positive-only and balanced trainers, and many can be rigid about what they believe is the “right” way to train, even when it is not working for your dog or does not feel right to you. Sammy is the opposite. She meets both the dog and the owner where they are, and adapts her approach based on each dog’s individual needs. She is extremely communicative, approachable, and genuinely fun to work with. It is clear she has a deep understanding of dog behavior and sees each dog as an individual. I cannot recommend Sammy highly enough and will be recommending her to everyone I know!!!

We found Sammy through a friend of ours who had nothing but positive things to say about her… and we completely agree!!! Sammy makes sure to update us when our pup is in her care. At drop off and pick up she asks great questions to understand how he is doing. We feel very lucky knowing that he is in good hands when we are away!

Sammy has been a HUGE help with our two 2.5yo pups, Gorgi and Maple. We had been looking for help with the leash, recall, and dog/people reactivity and have seen a big improvement since working with Sammy this year. Every step of the way Sammy has acted as a partner through the process. The initial intake call was kind and thoughtful (not once did we feel embarrassed or hopeless by our situation which has happened with other potential trainers), and Sammy was direct in what were reasonable expectations moving forward. Private sessions have been instrumental for us in learning/practicing better techniques and the day camps have been a great outlet for our pups to socialize and get some facetime with Sammy without our distraction. Overall, my husband and I have been so happy with our experience with Sammy and can't recommend her enough!

I’ve seen such an amazing improvement in my dog Picasso since working with Sammy! We’ve been focusing on some specific behaviors, and not only have I noticed the progress—my friends and roommates have too! It’s such a relief to work with someone who truly understands cattle dog breeds. They’re smart, headstrong, and full of energy, and Sammy has been so patient in teaching me how to work with Picasso in a way that actually works for her personality. I feel more confident every session, and I can tell Picasso is happier and more in tune with me. I couldn’t recommend Sammy more highly!
