We’ve had a few issues with the vet clinic. We’ve been going there for 5 years and Dr. badger is amazing, however, we’ve had issues with a vet tech getting our cat mixed up with another and giving him the wrong shots. We’ve also had vet techs give us the wrong medication for our dogs, and other mistakes because of turn over. It’s very clear they don’t pay their staff well, even through the vet care is expensive. We’ve also had an issue with Dr. Spitz-we had an elderly dog (she’s passed since then) that we brought in when she kept peeing on herself when she was sleeping. Instead of listening to our concerns she decided to focus on her heart murmur which we were aware of. She said we needed to bring her to a vet cardiologist and I said we were concerned to do that since she was 15 and she insisted on us just calling to get an appointment. She said it would be more than 100 dollars, when the called us to make an appointment I asked how much the medication would cost and the receptionist was thankfully very honest that just to get in the door it was 750 dollars. Dr. Spitz is terrible and doesn’t do her research, she also accused us of not giving our dog her heart worm medicine and that’s why she had a heart murmur, even though when we adopted her she already had it. Very infuriating, just make sure you have a different vet and you ask enough questions before agreeing to anything.

We’ve trusted WEVC for more than 15 years & wouldn’t take our pets anywhere else. Dr. Hudgins is simply the best. She always takes the time to thoroughly explain what’s going on, walks through every treatment option & makes sure we feel confident about the next steps. You never feel rushed, and you can tell she genuinely cares about both the animals & their owners. Highly recommend to anyone looking for compassionate, expert veterinary care.

Doctors and staff are awesome. Kind, courteous and professional. Highly recommend. They take great care of my 20 year old and 10 year old dogs.

All three of my pets have gone here for a decade. The genuine care and realistic medical advice have been impressive. And recently when my dog was at the end of her life, they handled the process with the utmost sympathy and patience. The staff streamlined check in and gave us as much time as we needed with our Stellabugg before and after. And if any pet owner knows the gut wrenching experience of euthanizing their beloved pet, you know all you need in that moment is sincere care and concern. West Ashley Vet Clinic also sent this sympathy card that brought me to tears.

I cannot recommend WAVC enough. I tell anyone and everyone that this is my vet. Both my boys see Dr. Huggins. She is amazing - has the best bedside manner and truly understands and prioritizes the concerns of pet owners. After purchasing a puppy with a grade 6 heart murmur, she referred me to an excellent local cardiologist. I have brought 5 dogs over the years to WAVC and have all been patients of Huggins. Each staff member knows each of my dogs by name and when I call, they recognize me. Caycee and Hannah who work the front desk always return my calls, message me if need be, or even reach out when they get word from an emergency vet that one of my dogs has been seen. I travel from Mt P all the way to West Ashley just for the vet and I do not mind doing so whatsoever. I truly haven’t found a practice in town that matches the competence of WAVC. I always leave feeling like I am giving my dogs the best care possible. As someone with veterinary experience, I am picky but WAVC checks all the boxes and more. Again, cannot recommend them enough! If you’re a dog or cat owner and are in need of a vet, you must give WAVC a try.
