(from Google)This place is nothing short of amazing! We are now 12 bottle members (huge savings). Not only is the wine the very best around, but it feels like family here. Sara and Jen greet us by name (and hugs) the minute we walk in the door. The live music and weekly activities are a big plus. We cannot imagine this at any other winery. Truly amazing!!!
What a cute spot to enjoy your time with friends or family. There is plenty of space and the staff is wonderful. We loved the outside patio and the Cabernet. The location is great in historic Downtown McKinney and there is a lot of great shopping you could enjoy after your wine tasting. You definitely need to check out this place
Barons Creek Tasting Room is in a great location, has a very comfortable outdoor patio and a nice selection of wines. Today my friend and I stopped by after shopping for a glass. The server brought out our two glasses and it was obvious that mine was poured quite a bit less than my friend who is the one that noticed. I didn’t take a sip as I wanted to show the server. She didn’t come back out after waiting for about 7-8 minutes. I went in with the glass, told her what my concern was and she said told me they aren’t allowed to pour past the two stars. My glass still had room before the stars but she tilted it to hit the stars. I was so surprised by her reaction. I told her I probably couldn’t come back again. I learned she is the manager- couldn’t she just add a few drops? Very disappointing experience. There are plenty of other places to get wine in McKinney.
**1 Star - Disappointing Customer Service** We visited Barons Creek Winery on Saturday during the wine and cheese walk event. After enjoying our samples as part of the walk, we decided to sit on their patio area to look at the menu and possibly order something. The patio was completely empty with no other customers. A middle-aged female employee with short hair and glasses came out and asked, "Are you guys looking to order?" I explained that we were participating in the wine and cheese walk, and my wife was looking at the menu on the table. The employee repeated "wine walk" in a dismissive tone and looked at us like we were somehow beneath her. She then informed us that the patio was only for paying customers. Her condescending attitude was completely unnecessary, especially given that the patio was empty and we were actually considering ordering. My wife told her we wouldn't be paying customers now, and we left. It's unfortunate that one employee's poor attitude cost this winery potential customers. We were ready to spend money there, but the rude treatment made us feel unwelcome. There are plenty of other wineries in the area that actually appreciate their customers. Evey other winery allowed us to sit. We actually signed up for a membership with one of them. We won't be returning to Barons Creek
There is no lack of wineries or wine bars in McKinney and each has its own personality. Even if you have a favorite, I highly suggest visiting them all. Barons Creek is spacious and has a long list of wines. Their staff is friendly and attentive. April and Kimberley made suggestions based on what we said we liked and were spot on. With comfortable couches and pockets of places to gather, it’s perfect for individuals, couples, or groups. They also have fun events. (We’re going to music bingo tonight.) Their tasters are a great way to figure out what you like or just tell the staff what you normally drink and they’ll make great suggestions.
