Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park

UPDATE: Trails reopened (bridge still closed), as of March 1, 2026. As of 01/04/26, all the trails worth walking are closed until further notice so don’t waste your time like I did. ☹️

6:7:25 stopped by for the day to do an all trails hike, springs are dark and dirty nothing really exciting but nice to do a walk and see history. Did a little over 2 miles, bring bug spray just in case, sun screen, saw a gopher turtle too! 1/1/2026 Mom and I walked at the park, great weather, tons of dogs 🐕, didn’t see any wildlife

Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park is a peaceful hidden gem on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The trails are short but scenic, winding through mangroves, pine flatwoods and salt marsh. The Perfect place for a relaxing walk and some nature watching. The park is well maintained, not crowded and offers a quiet, natural escape from the busy city. Highly recommended for anyone who loves nature, photography or just a peaceful day outdoors. ✨

Very well maintained park, $4 per carload to enter park, lots of resting benches plus picnic tables throughout park, several different trails to explore, no water fountains so must bring water bottles with you!! Well worth the stop for a few hours of relaxing nature to see and hear

Florida has done an excellent job with their parks system. Werner Boyce Salt Springs State Park is not a great example though. The park maintenance is minimal, and many structures including a bridge are damaged and out of service, and have been for months, the bridge a couple of years. This is too bad, it seems the park is underfunded. Maybe it’s because of the class of park. Other State Parks like Starkey are well maintained. Anyway, this park is very accessible, off US19, and does have some peaceful walking trails, some along intercostal waterways. The washroom facilities are very nice, and there are kayak rentals as well. The park was free of charge but there is an honour system fee now, payable on-line. So, this park could be so much more, but still not bad!
