Camp Bow Wow Elmhurst

We took our pup Tux here while we went on a short vacation. I loved that we were able to peek in on him throughout the day via their camper cams. It put us at ease being away from him. Everyone was so nice and informative. We even got him an exit bath so he came home smelling nice and not like he'd been around a bunch of dogs. That was a great added on service. We are actually thinking of bringing him back from time to time just so he can hang out. I would highly recommend Camp Bow Wow Elmhurst if you need day care or boarding.

Took our puppy for boarding and I’m a bit disappointed. I really liked the feature of cameras so I can check in on our pup while we were out of town. I will say there was one employee that was great from what I saw, seemed like he wanted to be there, and interacted with the dogs positively. The first day of her stay there was another employee that was a bit rough with the dogs: pushing them down aggressively, using their leg to push them away, not allowing our pup just to sit by them, went as far as to back themselves in the corner with some sort of board in front so the dogs wouldn’t touch them. I will say I have a high energy pup who likes to jump, we're working on it, she’s 4 months old. If you don’t like dogs maybe this isn’t the job for you. I do understand it just being a job, some days aren’t great days, and overseeing a bunch of dogs being overwhelming. By the end of the day our pup sat in the corner, scared and it was sad to see her not receive the comfort she was wanting because she was overwhelmed and it was new to her. Disappointing leaving town knowing that was her fate for the next 4 days. Day 2 there was a different employee and our pup seemed to build confidence from then on. Unfortunately shortly before our dogs stay she developed a UTI and due to our obligations we trusted Camp Bow Wow to administer her medication properly. I wrote explicit instructions on her profile, and I told the lady at the front desk the same instructions. This girl eats anything but I discovered at home she wouldn’t take the pill on its own. Hiding it in peanut butter/kong easy treat did the trick. When I picked her up early in the morning they gave me a bag of food I’m assuming she didn’t eat yet as it wasn’t one I provided, inside the bag I found the pill she was supposed to have mixed with her food, not per the instructions as she would refuse to consume it. This only leads me to believe that throughout her 4 day stay it’s unlikely she had any of the 8 pills she was supposed to have to clear up her UTI. I had a $500 vet bill for that UTI. All that to say, she was in good spirits when we picked her up, still give praise to that one employee, it seemed like she made some dog friends, and we appreciate the nail trim they suggested. BUT it’s extremely unlikely we will bring her back here for boarding due to the lack of care that I witnessed and that I discovered with her medication.

My lab Livvie has such a great time at Camp Bow Wow. I love being able to check in on her throughout the day and the staff is very on top of behaviors and keeps a watchful eye on the dogs. It's a great option for her on days when I'm going to be stuck in the office.

Camp Bow Wow always takes great care of our pup but this time he wasn’t feeling well while we were out of town and they went above and beyond for him! In addition, they kept us updated the whole time with calls, texts and photos. We knew he was in good hands until we were able to get home.

Camp Bow Wow is really nice place. My dog can’t wait to get there. As soon as we get close I open car window and he starts to whine with joy until he gets in there. Yoddy at the front desk is his and my family’s favorite. She always has a smile for us
