(from Google)Beautiful views. Nice wide trails. Currently restoring some areas of the preserve therefore limited access to all areas until complete.
I feel that it deserves 4.5, because of the lack of bathrooms, but as far as the actual trail goes... Absolutely stunning! The cool temperature around the lake is SO refreshing... Also, almost NO BUGS! I'd still recommend bug spray, but don't worry about being eaten alive. The view is so nice, and the trail has very nice upkeep. It's not extremely long, just enough for about an hour (if you like to take it slow and enjoy it) Overall, as far as Florida trails, it's a very pleasant place, super nice for a refreshing walk and place to talk with friends.
Nice clear path for walking around the lake. I have never kayaked or fished in the lake but a few others were when I was there. The walk around the lake is about a mile & partially shaded. (10% shaded at noon, 50% shaded in morning / aft.) Great place to walk a dog (on leash)
I am still glowing from my early morning at the George LeStrange Preserve! Even though the clouds blocked our view of the Lunar Eclipse on March 3rd 2026, the experts from the Oxbow Eco Center made the walk so worth it. I learned so much about our local wildlife that the overcast sky didn't even matter! If you missed the eclipse walk, don’t worry they have so many more planned. You have to sign up ASAP on the St. Lucie County Booking Page because these spots vanish fast! Below are the locations of a video I uploaded during my experience. It's basically a nice lake with a walking trail around it. Nice, easy walking path. There are a couple of off chutes that go down to a creek or small river, not sure which it is, (not from this area)....but still a nice walk. I did see a young lady walking laps by herself, which made me kind of nervous for her given the fact there were a few sketchy people in the parking lot drinking and smoking weed. All in all, it's a good little get away for an hour or so.
