It was our first visit to scenthound and from drop off to pick up it was everything I could want in getting my dog groomed. The team was professional and loving to my puppy, and they kept me informed. She is so beautifully groomed and smells amazing so soft I will be back next month.
I took my husky to Scenthound as a new client and was extremely disappointed. Within 20 minutes of drop-off, I was told she was ready for pick-up—which immediately raised red flags. When I arrived, she was dripping wet, leaving a puddle on the floor. I was told she had only been dried for five minutes, which is completely inadequate for a husky with thick fur. I called to speak with a manager and was told dogs should be “damp, not dripping.” I’ve never picked up my dog from a groomer even slightly wet. I requested a refund, which I received, and thought the matter was resolved. Their response to my review below is very false - I never threatened to leave a bad review in an attempt to gain a refund, I simply asked for a refund because my dog was wet (she also smelled terrible the remainder of the day). I had also considered this matter closed at the conclusion of the refund and I didn’t post a review until the urgent care visit. 2 weeks later, my dog began licking her backside excessively and developed a hot spot. The urgent care vet confirmed that being left wet was likely the catalyst. I had to pay $352 for treatment. I contacted the owner, Doug, to discuss compensation and was shocked by how disrespectful and dismissive he was. He denied any wrongdoing, claimed the wrong services were booked, and tried to deflect responsibility by asking to speak with my vet. I pointed out that the refund already acknowledged fault, and that it was their responsibility to clarify services if what I booked online wasn’t appropriate. Instead, they went ahead with poor care that harmed my dog. I did notice—after the fact—that the confirmation email mentioned a towel dry unless I added a full dry as an extra. I was willing to take accountability for that oversight, but Doug refused to take any responsibility for failing to explain services clearly at any point. I asked for partial compensation for the vet bill, and he declined. I’m now filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Please be cautious if you're considering Scenthound. A dog should be fully dried after a bath, especially for health reasons. My husky has never had skin issues in five years—until now.
I have taken my two poodles, Wilma and Junie, here every Friday since they were puppies in 2023. They LOVE groomer day and are always so excited to see their best friends at Scenthound!! The membership is extremely good value and I tell every dog owner I know about it. Every week they are bathed, ears cleaned, nails trimmed, and happy as can be. They’ve also gotten several haircuts and have always come back looking so stinking cute (see pics of Wilma from various grooms). Sometimes they run a little late and it is harder to get an appointment these days, but that’s because the folks at Scenthound are so great at what they do! All of the staff we’ve met here are absolutely incredible and do their best to make the dogs comfortable, and sometimes that takes time. I have been to several other groomers who cut my dogs while charging very high prices. We are SO glad we found Scenthound and will stay with them as long as I am in Indy!
