(from Google)A well maintained pathway. And seems they’ve added a blue path that wasn’t on the map/diagram. Didn’t see any wildlife tho. But seems we’re in a drought condition here & along the east coast of the US. It was kinda confusing for us (out of towners) where the trailhead was from the parking area. Didn’t seem well defined, marked or notified on the billboard.
Beautiful place with lots of trails - paved and unpaved!
Cypress Creek Preserve is a quiet hidden gem in Pasco County. If you love true Florida wilderness, wide open views, and peaceful trails, this place is perfect. There are tons of hiking and biking options, including a main paved trail about 5 miles long that runs straight from the Pump Station Road trailhead all the way to the end. From there, you can branch off into dozens of dirt and grass side trails covering well over 10 miles of off road riding and hiking. They are fairly well maintained and great for exploring. It is extremely peaceful out here. I have seen deer, birds, tortoises, and all kinds of wildlife, especially around sunrise and sunset. If you enjoy quiet, open spaces and natural beauty, you will love it. There are two main entrances, each offering something different. The Pump Station Road entrance on the northern side is the one with the long paved trail. Vehicles do use this paved road because it is a through route, but they go through a locked gate. Hikers and bikers can still pass through freely. Just park at the trailhead and start from there. This entrance is part of the SWFWMD recreation area, typically open from dawn to dusk. The Parkway Boulevard entrance on the west side leads to its own trail system. It is also part of the Cypress Creek Preserve network. I am not completely sure if the trails connect deep inside, but both areas are beautiful and worth visiting. Overall, this preserve is a peaceful place to get outside, clear your mind, enjoy nature, and explore miles of real Florida wilderness. Highly recommended.
It's a really pretty place and the trails are nice, but we've gone twice and there must be a gun range nearby because both times we went it was nonstop gunshots. Some people don't have a problem with it, but I think others would and you deserve a heads up.
Concrete walking/biking trails. Most people are biking here
