I rarely leave reviews, but this experience with Petco was too disappointing to ignore. I dropped my dog off for a scheduled grooming appointment expecting a noticeable difference when I picked her up. Instead, she looked exactly the same as when I left her. There was no visible grooming work done at all. When I asked what services were completed, I was told she received a bath and had her nails clipped. Based on her appearance, it honestly didn’t seem like anything had been done. Beyond the lack of results, the customer experience made things worse. There was no real explanation, no effort to address my concerns, and no attempt to make it right. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. This was one of the worst service experiences I’ve had. I won’t be bringing my dog back here again.

The manager of the grooming salon is completely nasty and unprofessional. I would urge everyone to think twice before going to this location for ANYTHING. Professionalism and courtesy are not a virtue here! The grooming salon cancelled our last appointment last minute, no problem, but when I tried to rebook the next morning the salon manager snapped at me making it seem like I was making up the cancellation that happened. We did end up getting an appointment, and at checkout I was not told of any concerns or problems. I called today to book a grooming, and was told we are now "referred out" and they will not take my dog. Happy to move on!

I had a very disappointing experience with the Petco on Staples Mill Rd. A few months ago, I purchased 5 fish, and every single one died within a week. All of them were covered in ich. When we returned to the store, they did refund the money, but we were also told they were “dealing with an ich outbreak” and could not sell fish at that time. We thoroughly cleaned our tank and followed all instructions given to us, including purchasing the conditioner and water clarifying solutions they recommended. After waiting about four months, I decided to give them another chance and bought 4 more fish. Unfortunately, the very next day one fish was completely covered in ich and died. Once again, we were told they were “having issues with it” and were given ich medication. It has now been about a week, and only one fish is still alive, but it is showing signs of ich as well. This seems to be an ongoing issue that has not been properly addressed. While refunds were provided, the repeated loss of fish and consistent illness is unacceptable. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing any more fish from this location 😡

I'm a 1st-time cat mom and I've been taking our baby to this Vetco since we got her a year and a half ago. All of the staff have been incredibly pleasant and open to answering the many questions I have. The prices are very reasonable and the staff genuinely care about their patients. I highly recommend Vetco on Staples Mill Rd.

Review Subject: Misinformation Regarding Kitten Care Led to Preventable Death I am writing this review after the tragic and preventable death of my 5 week-old kitten, Persephone Mosconi. I brought her to this clinic on October 3rd, specifically asking for guidance on proper care, as I had never cared for a kitten this young. What the Petco Vet Did: The vet looked the kitten over, said she "looked good," weighed her, and administered a dewormer. The vet advised me to continue bottle feeding the kitten. The Fatal Misinformation & Outcome: Following the Petco vet's advice, the kitten later became critically ill and was taken to an emergency veterinary hospital. Despite the ER team's best efforts, she did not survive. The emergency veterinarian informed me that the advice given by the Petco vet was incorrect and dangerous for a kitten of that age. The ER vet stated: A 4-week-old kitten should not be bottle-fed; at that age, they must be transitioned to a gruel (mixed wet kitten food and kitten formula) because they have teeth and should be learning to eat solid food. The Petco veterinarian's misinformation was a contributing factor in the kitten's decline and death, which the ER vet suggested could have been prevented had the correct guidance been given. The Petco vet should have performed a more thorough check-up or immediately referred us to a clinic specializing in neonatal kitten care, as their level of knowledge was inadequate for this critical age group. This clinic's failure to provide accurate, life-saving medical guidance for a vulnerable 4-week-old kitten resulted in a devastating loss. I urge other pet owners seeking care for neonatal kittens to seek out veterinary specialists who understand the critical developmental stages of this age group.
