It was a great hike at Monserrate Mountain, short but steep, some part of the trail are paved and rocky with unique trail markers for every ten stories of the original World Trade Center 9/11 Memorial. At the paved part of the trail before the junction, there is a short trail to see wooden bridges. Worth to see the flag, the wooden sign and the beautiful views. Be very careful stepping on the rocky part of the trail and wear a proper hiking shoes. There one guy that twisted his ankle when coming back to the parking lot. There is no bathroom. Bring enough water. Lots of parking space. Stay safe and Happy trails!

Excellent hike and great workout! The steepness starts immediately at the trailhead and keeps going up. Take breaks as needed. Great views along with way (watch video). I recommend doing the loop if you have the energy and time. Plenty of parking on side opposite of the trailhead. Highly recommended hike in north San Diego County.

Super cool hike, but the way down is much harder. It is full of rocks so be prepared and bring comfortable shoes. It's around 4 miles and, for me is one of the few hikes where going down is harder than going up.

Awesome hike you get a great workout going upward all the way to the top then downhill all the back. You got great views of North, South, and West going up or down. You will meet some of the best people on this hike and a lot of four-legged ones too. This is a must-do hike if you love hiking you will not be disappointed on this one I try to do it at least once a week.

Great hike and good cardio but a bit rugged so wear your hiking boots. Took about 45 minutes to reach the peak from the parking lot. Great vistas. At 5am there were only 2 other hikers present. On the decent we passed only a handful of hikers. Very clean.
