Tara's School for Dogs

Mary is such a kind and professional trainer! We worked with her and our dog Appa on puppy foundations when we just got him in the summer of 2023. She gave us all the important tips and ways to communicate and teach or puppy everything. She is very knowledgeable and clearly is a huge dog lover. We recently completed the Canine Good Citizen training as well, and we are happy we came back to Mary. Would recommend :)

Mary was a delight to work with. Her training methods worked wonders on our Bernedoodle puppy, Hope. The best way to train a puppy is with one on one training which lets the trainer tailor it to your individual puppy’s needs and temperament. It certainly worked well for us. We highly recommend Tara’s School for Dogs.

Mary was great in training our puppy Milo! He learned all the basics with 6 sessions and he was so excited seeing Mary walk in every week. We saw an improvement in his wild behavior immediately after the first session. We definitely recommend for everyone!!

Mary was great to work with! My pup was working through some behavioral challenges, specifically crate training, separation anxiety, leash pulling, etc. Within two sessions I was already seeing an improvement. Mary provided me with new tips and tricks to better work with my fur baby. This photo was taken after 3 or 4 weeks of working with Mary, you can't tell, but my pup wouldn't go any where near the crate and now she's choosing to sleep in the crate in the afternoons. We love Mary! I reached out to Mary after I relocated to the city and my 4-year-old lab was having a hard time adjusting--she was already very excitable and the constant stimulation of NYC was proving to be a lot more than I could handle. Thanks to Mary, while we're still working on some skills, the improvement in everything from leash walking to responding to apartment building noises (after only 3 lessons!) has been DRASTIC. Most importantly, spending quality time training my pup has made us closer than ever. Mary is a wonderful, kind person who not only truly understands dogs but also people...so she breaks down our "homework" in a way that is manageable (and rewarding, ha) for me, too!
