(from Google)This is a fun family experience. We went to see the poppies that have blossomed this spring following a rainy California winter. We traveled to the Antelope Valley last year to see the poppies, but this is much closer. Nature is beautiful here, and there's movie history to see here, too. There are several easy walking trails that are stroller-friendly. The poppies are at the end of the main trail that leads out of the parking lot, on the side of a hill adjacent to the east-bound 118 Ronald Reagan Freeway. We took snacks and rested at a picnic table. There are many beautiful and shady oak trees around.
Has a nice single track trail across from the train tracks that leads to Rocky Trail across the bridge above the freeway about 1.5mi away. Sign says the gates open at 6. Got here at 6:25 and no one around. Saw many cars parked near Rocky Trail roads near the freeway entrance and exit area. Portapotties here but no water fountains.
This park is where they shot some old movies and TV shows. You can see exactly where the Lone ranger reared his horse in the theme song. It was so cool
this park is a long dirt trail with many paths. 70% of the time i didn’t know where i was going, i wish there was some directional signs. however this park does have some fun unique features, signs describing the old movie sets here as well as nature facts, and there’s an old horse stage? and a labyrinth i liked. wasn’t a personal favorite of mine but is still interesting.
This was a beautiful park to hike in. There was a labyrinth you can walk that is very relaxing and you can meditate or just have a quiet moment. The hiking trails were nice and the scenery was spectacular. There were also placards throughout the trails that described were movies were filmed. So, a lot of fun if you are a film buff to see all these filming locations. If you are in the area definitely visit here. I had a great time.
