There's no way to express how much our trainer Julie and the staff at Smarty Paws has helped my dog Mavi and myself. As a large and anxious dog we started participating in classes beginning at basic obedience level and bringing her to boot camps. I've seen a significant difference in Mavi and her quality of life, as well in our relationship as a human and dog team. We're gradually working up to service dog training and there is absolutely no other trainer I would go to than Julie to get us there. I trust her with my fur baby, which for me is the highest honor I could bestow upon a human. With all my heart I recommend Julie and Smarty Paws.

I used Smarty Paws for many years for all types of training. They took excellent care of my corgi through 8 years of agility and everyone was extremely supportive. Later when I got my next dog, a mini Aussie doodle I knew she needed a job and I had recently had a health impact so we started training for her to be my service dog. The program is thorough and support is given along the way. Julie was an absolutely amazing trainer and I recommend her to everyone I can. From her obedience classes to her service dog classes she always treated me with nothing but respect and honesty. She told me when my dog needed to get more practice with certain skills and honesty, she was right. Seeing the improvement in my dog and sustained lifelong training she has I am so grateful to her for telling me what she saw when she saw it so we could work on it together. I have taken my service dog on multiple flights, uncountable outings and she has helped me many times. She is always extremely well behaved and there is no room for anyone to claim she isn’t a service dog when she is working because of the exceptional training we received. If you are on the fence, go for it. You won’t regret it.

Julie and the Smarty Paws team are amazing. I first came to them with two very fearful and anxious dogs. One of my dogs is tiny but had become reactive and aggressive toward my other dog, and their relationship was really struggling. We started with Boot Camp twice a week for several months, and Julie gave me practical tools and guidance to help repair their bond at home. As we progressed, I enrolled each dog in obedience classes to strengthen my relationship with them individually and continue building their confidence. One thing I really appreciated was that I was never just told what to do. I was taught why we were doing it. Julie always provided relevant information and helped me better understand my dogs’ behaviors, body language, and triggers. That education made a huge difference in my ability to work with my dogs outside of class. They now have a thriving relationship! We actually moved back with family & became 5 dog household, & the tools & structure I learned at Smarty Paws really helped create harmony with so many pets! Julie was also always available to answer questions, even during periods when I wasn’t actively enrolled in a program. She has been genuinely invested in my dogs’ journey and progress. I even ran into her at a pet store once, and she immediately remembered both me and my pups and asked how they were doing. The entire Smarty Paws team is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and caring. I’m so grateful for everything they’ve helped us accomplish, and I’m excited to continue with Levels 3 and 4 for both dogs and participate in Boot Camp whenever possible. Highly recommend for anyone looking for training that focuses on both the dogs and educating & empowering their owners.

I cannot recommend Smarty Paws enough! The impact this training has had on my niece and nephew (my bestie's pups!) has been absolutely life-changing.Before they started, their husky-tude made family visits and walks a bit chaotic. Now, thanks to the expert guidance and positive reinforcement techniques taught by Julie, they are so much more confident and their happy personalities shine through. The trainers didn't just teach them obedience; they truly helped them live an even better life! My niece is now in training to become a service dog & continues to excel more and I couldn’t be a more proud dog auntie. The time and patience that Julie has is exceptional. My rescue dog was extremely timid and anxious. We started classes when he was about 6 months old at Smarty Paws. On day one he crawled into my lap wouldn’t take treats and was terrified. Now he gets so excited to go to classes that he is practically bouncing all the way in. Julie has become his best friend and he has made a couple dog friends because of the work she has helped me put into him. My extremely fearful boy has become a much more confident version of himself because of the countless hours of work. Julie doesn’t just train dogs but she trains the owners to be the best they can for their dog! My boy and I have grown together thanks to the incredible staff at Smarty Paws and his best friend Julie!
