(from Google)The park was beautiful and well laid out. There are more water based activities than trails for hiking, but the site we stayed in was right in the lake with a beach nearby. Campsites were well laid out and not too close by. Restrooms were clean and we'll maintained. Park staff was great, and the location is perfect for anyone coming from Waco or DFW... only 1 1/2 hours away from central dallas
We love even though we woke up covered in red ants. That was a horrible first. I am huge about clean parks and I love fossils. This place is great. Stayed in both tent for fall camping and cabins which are really low cost but don’t allow dogs. There are also enclosed screen rooms.
I enjoyed this park but I would've liked for the some of the showers in certain campgrounds do have curtains so it doesn't feel like you're exposed. Very easy trails. They only have 2 trails and combined it's a little over 2 miles but other than that it was a nice park. The lake was clear! It would've been nice to take a dip in the water but it was too cold this past weekend. Visited 3/27/26-3/29/26
Camped here for a week with my son just to relax and enjoy the scenery. We were in space 126 and had an excellent view of the lake as well as acces to fishing within a short walk from our campsite. Site was level, restrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. Restaurants nearby in Whitney if you so desire. T.V. reception was great, picked up several channels with just our antenna. Overall a great experience! Will come back to this state park again! Highly recommend!!
The office staff were lovely. Despite us camping over a holiday (New Year’s Eve) it was very peaceful and quiet in our cabin area. Gorgeous view of the lake, especially at sunset. Only qualm is the bathroom—the female stalls in the Towash loop are tinyyyyy, the showers don’t have curtains or lockable doors, and there was no hot water for the shower. Small qualms though compared to how great and scenic the park was!
