(from Google)I will not be renewing with this vet. The plans are already expensive, require auto-renewal, and I still have to pay out of pocket at every visit despite paying $80/month for their senior plan. I’m also concerned because after being taken inside, my dog has been traumatized and refuses to go back in. Support was dismissive and unhelpful. Very disappointing experience.
I want to be clear: the staff is generally nice, and the veterinarian herself is kind and passionate about her job. It’s unfortunate she works for a company whose practices feel greedy and manipulative. Every visit seems to come with new ways to add charges, but today was the final straw. Our dog was being treated for an ear infection, so vaccines were postponed due to his immune system being compromised. That made sense. We were told to return in a month for a follow-up, and that the follow-up visit would be significantly discounted compared to a normal exam. Today was that follow-up. I was informed the infection-causing bacteria was gone, with just minor buildup left. They offered to “test it” (a swab under a microscope) for $60. I asked if it was required since we still had medication and ear flush at home. They said no, so I declined. At checkout, they charged full price for the visit. I reminded them this was supposed to be a discounted follow-up. After speaking with a manager, I was told it didn’t qualify as a follow-up because no additional treatment was performed. Apparently re-examining his ears and discussing treatment plans didn’t count… probably since that was free. I was also told the visit had been “put in wrong” and couldn’t be corrected because it would have had to have been fixed before check-in even though we arrived saying we were there for the follow-up when we walked in. It feels like I shouldn’t be accountable if something was “put in wrong” by your employee. But I was informed they were not allowed by corporate to adjust anything. The “discount” also turned out to be only $20 off, not the near half-price difference we were led to expect. So the only way to “qualify” for the cheaper visit would have been agreeing to an optional $60 test just to save $20 on the exam. That’s not medical care. That feels like a scam. I know it’s just $20 but it’s more about what this represents. I can’t trust this company and what they say. Probably didn’t help that, after the appointment, no one told me we were free to go. I sat alone in the exam room for 30 extra minutes until I asked someone. I understand mistakes happen, but combined with the billing issues, it just added to the frustration. Again, great vet. Would love to support her if she literally worked anywhere else.
DO NOT COME HERE. They are more focused on money and selling subscriptions than taking care of your pet. My husband took my cat there today. They LIED to him and told him that my cat was already enrolled in the optimum wellness plan in the past and offered to re sign him up for it. My cat was NEVER enrolled in this program. The “contract” that was filled out for this new subscription lists MY name on it as the plan holder, not his, and was NEVER signed by me as I was NOT EVEN THERE. Yet I checked the app, and sure enough they enrolled my cat for a nearly $60 a month subscription that is a mandatory 12 months (even if your pet dies) that AUTO RENEWS unless you call an 800 number to cancel and buy yourself out. And they charged my husband startup fees as part of the visit bill. After he found out what happened, my husband tried to call the 800 and cancel, but they said they could only talk to me because I am the plan holder…. So they can sign me up for a contract in my name WITHOUT my consent (which I’m sure is illegal), but then require my verbal consent to cancel it?!?!? Absolute scam of a business and my cat will never be back. In addition to the scam, the visit itself did not go smoothly either. When my husband showed up for the appointment they claimed to have no record of the appointment in their system at first, even though I had sent him a screenshot of the appointment confirmation. They magically found the appointment in their system, but said the vet wouldn’t be available for another half hour. I had booked an in person appointment, and they asked my husband if they could convert it to a drop off appointment. I had intentionally booked it as an in person visit as my cat has historically not done very well staying there for the MANY HOURS that they keep them there for the drop off appointments- he’s really scared of dogs/barking and he seems extra stressed and tired by the time he comes home compared to a shorter in-person visit. My husband decided to wait with him and was there for over 2 hours. They then claimed were only able to draw half of the routine blood work they needed from my 9 year old, docile, front declawed, very friendly house cat. They prescribed a sedative and asked for him to be brought back the following week. My cat will not take that sedative- he has had it prescribed for airplane travel in the past and it did not work out well. But it was sold to my husband anyway- 14 capsules (why would I even need 14 to use once for a single blood draw..?) at an highly marked up rate (I am a pharmacist and know full well how much that medication costs if you just send it as a prescription to the pharmacy). It really makes me wonder: if they “can’t” get full preventative care bloodwork from my elderly, mild mannered indoor cat without me sedating him beforehand, how on earth can they be trusted to properly care for a more spicy/feral cat? He has gotten blood work done perfectly fine with no sedation or difficulties at other vet visits. Now suddenly in his old age he needs to be sedated?! I am supposed to put him through the stress of a SECOND vet visit to this place in one week?! For a healthy cat?! I do not want to do that to my poor little guy without good reason- he is a scaredy cat and does not like leaving the house!! It really makes me question their competency and whether or not they put the cat’s best interest first- or just do what is easiest for them and what they can bill the most money for. This was supposed to be a routine preventive care visit. I would NEVER trust them if my pet was actually sick. We will never be back.
If I could give Bailey at Banfield Pet Hospital more than five stars, I absolutely would. She is truly exceptional at what she does. My reactive German Shepherd girl is not an easy dog to manage, yet Bailey handled her with a level of patience, compassion, and professionalism that is incredibly hard to find. From the moment we walked in, Bailey showed an extraordinary understanding of her behavior. She never rushed her, never got flustered, and made sure she felt safe and supported every single step of the way. Her calm, gentle, and reassuring presence transformed what is normally a very stressful experience into something smooth, controlled, and genuinely positive. Bailey’s dedication to her patients is unmatched. She is attentive, skilled, loving, and truly committed to providing the highest level of care even when it requires extra time, patience, or flexibility. My girl trusted her completely, and that trust speaks volumes about Bailey’s character and expertise. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Bailey’s kindness, understanding, and unwavering patience. She is the kind of veterinary professional every reactive or anxious dog owner dreams of finding. I HIGHLY, wholeheartedly, and without a single hesitation recommend Bailey at Banfield Pet Hospital. She is a remarkable asset to the entire clinic, and any pet in her care is receiving the very best treatment possible
I have taken my two older kitty gatos, Betty White and Truffles, to see the vet for various issues and have been met with professional and courteous customer service. The staff has called to check in with each of them and I am happy I had a nice experience so far. We love our fur babies and want great care for them at a reasonable price, and I believe I have both at Banfield.
